Daechwita is a traditional military music (that’s the background music sounds he used of traditional classical Korean instruments) most often used to announce the arrival of the king. It’s like hail to the chief and another way to say hail me. Suga does the production, keyboards, and MV concept work for his solo work. He’s not kidding or exaggerating that he’s a genius. Blond AgustD is a mad king drunk on power… he wants to kill that greedy part of himself and get back to his more authentic self. One of the highest charting solo kpop songs ever for a reason. Also why we say don’t fuck around with Suga he’s pretty savage behind his quiet demeanor.

This MV is why I got into BTS, found this (weird YT rec), fell in love, did all his mixtapes, heard RM on one, did his mixtapes, then found J-Hope’s, and from there the BTS rap music and went down the rabbit hole. It is a stunning MV, the music is lit, the rap bars are insane, the flow is top tier, production is top tier, and on and on. And yes, that is a real sword, from a top sword maker, and he did train with a master swordsman to learn that choreo. Not enough to become a swordsman himself, I don’t believe based on the snippets of him talking about it, but enough that he could do it for real and not slice an arm off.

He did train to do the actual sword dance properly (there’s a video). Daechwita is packed with references and symbols, so it’s well worth watching the explain videos. The ‘mad king’ is also called Anger and represents Yoongi from the time of his first mixtape ‘Agust D’. The rebel/commoner is him now. If you want to meet and understand Anger I’d highly recommend listening to the tracks Agust D and The Last.

Ernest? I highly recommend Agust D’s D2 - Every single track on this second mixtape (2020) of his is fire. Hard to choose a favourite, although maybe Strange and People are remarkably reflective, even mellow. Two other standout works by this artist are The Last (it’s hard in a totally different way) and First Love (not what you think it is). Be warned tho, you’d be wandering into deep territory…

Yes!! I was literally out of breath when I watched this of the first time, it goes so hard!! I do understand why you might want to dive deeper into their solo work (everything's absolutely fire, you can't go wrong reacting to any of their work) but that said, there is a reason BTS as a whole isn't as explicit as Agust D, or RM JOKE is. It's fair to say their music now is a far cry from the gritty hiphop back when they first started out, but their lyricism and purpose behind their songs have for the most part stayed the same. They use it as a platform to reassure people and to let them know that they too experience fear and hardships. Though now, I wonder if that'll change - BTS has experienced major growth in popularity and worldwide reach in the last several years especially, and everything they do as a result is widely commented upon. I really hope that this doesn't mean they might have to sensor or tamp down their artistic integrity out of fear of sending out the wrong message (like if they brought back the cyphers - no matter how much I want them) but considering Jin's SUPERTUNA I really hope they just don't care, as blunt as that sounds.

8:19 he bought and I think have the sword made. This is a Korean sword and no other ethnicities. For the MV and dance they use a replica. It is very hard to swing a sword like he did and he trained 2 days prior. There is a dance practice of it.
