Tommy and Gina, a fictional Italo-american young couple from New Jersey. Tommy used to work at the docks but the union is on strike... Gina works in a diner and does a lot of extra hours still isn't enough to make ends meet... "Living on a prayer", one of Bon Jovi greatest hits. Now it's a mandatory reaction! :)

@bobboy5508

That 84 album is one of the best ever. I think there were 5 singles off it. Which is crazy for an album. But it was that good. Big songs off that one. It lifted him quick to stardom. I believe on some lists, that album was voted best of the year. I was born in 80. But I remember at 10 years old knowing Bon Jovi and listening to those songs like they were knew. I think at 10 is where I became very musically and culturally aware. That’s when the growing up starts.

Yes… he did refer to Frank Sinatra song. Tommy and Gina were the couple in their early mega hit, Livin On a Prayer. Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen are my homies. I grew up listening to them, seeing them live. I literally lived in between the two towns they lived in, in NJ. Jon did have his vocal cords operated on in the last year. He still has not performed live as he is taking the it slow with recovery. But just before surgery, he really struggled in live performances. Jon and Bruce are good guys, not caught up in the pitfalls of the industry but massively close to their wives and children, both incredibly committed to philanthropic work. They remain successful for decades. Jersey strong!

Jon Bon Jovi performed live for the first time since his vocal cord surgery at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala in February 2024, where he was also named Person of The Year. The band's next album, “Forever” hits stores June 7, and its first single “Legendary” is out now. He sang "Who Says You Can't Go Home", "The Promised Land", and "Legendary" with Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi, respectively.

Jon Bongiovi is One of the preeminent lyricists from my generation. I see that several people already commented on it, but Tommy and Gina are from living on a prayer, the song you mentioned at the beginning. He actually sang to my ex-wife at a concert I went to in Pullman Washington, on the New Jersey tour. Which was the loudest roar I've ever heard. When they came out onto the stage to lay your hands on me and he fired out from underneath the stage through the fog that crowd was easily 125 decibels.

I appreciate you showing Bon Jovi some love ❤on your channel! They have so many hits and songs that you can truly enjoy! Jon fought to have that line in this song, he and lead guitar Richie wrote so many of they’re hits together and that line Richie didn’t think it would work and thought that line wouldn’t matter but Jon put it in there and said it mattered to him and Richie said ok but you are the one that has to sing it every night and the rest is history. Tommy and Gina are mentioned in several of their songs over the years, so Bon Jovi fans know who they’re talking about! More Bon Jovi please! Lots of hits in the comments to choose from!🤟🔥💯

When he first started there was a rumor that FS was JBJ's Great Uncle - not true. However, the line is a nod to FS. His birth name is John Bongiovi. He switched it to Bon Jovi. I always thought that was funny.

The song describes two characters, Tommy and Gina, a working-class couple who struggle to make ends meet. Tommy loses his job as a dockworker due to a strike while Gina works as a diner waitress. The storyline was loosely based on real-life events that Jon Bon Jovi and songwriter Desmond Child experienced in the 1970s.

He’s been a volunteer for habitat for humanity, many fundraisers for underprivileged communities. This is off their CRUSH album that was released in 2000. The internet was still sort of getting its legs under itself before social media blew up big and the ability to Facetime etc was remotely a thing. We used web cams that sucked. Cell phones at the time did not have the ability to do what they do now. iPhone wasn't released until 2007. Tommy & Gina was a reference to couple in the song "Living on a Prayer" - Song went "Tommy used to work on the docks Unions been on strike He's down on his luck... it's tough, so tough Gina works the diner all day Working for her man, she brings home her pay For love - for love"

The lead singer was born John Francis Bongiovi Jr. Became professionally known as Jon Bon Jovi. His band was called Bon Jovi. Answering your other question, Bon Jovi did do a cover of Turn The Page by Bob Seger.

I suspect that BP is thinking of the Metallica cover which got lots of play. Bon Jovi did cover it also. Not sure if I can post links here but will try. You can Google it also. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aK6PocmexJyxYZ8.html

John Francis Bongiovi Jr. known professionally as Jon Bon Jovi. He just did a documentary on his and bands life Hulu, “Thank you, Goodnight.” Had surgery on his throat, didn’t know if he could sing again and just dropped a new son after 10 months of throat therapy, “Legendary”. As for it’s my Life, it came out May 8, 2000, from the “Crush Album”. It’s my life, his slower version from Unplugged is my favorite version of Its My Life. “Tommy and Gina and Frankie said I did it my way”, is from the song “Living on a Prayer”. So beautiful you have your homework lol, Thank you, Goodbye, Living on a Prayer, Bonjovi unplugged or just It’s my life unplugged. You won’t be disappointed at all. Enjoy your new baby. React to BonJovi Living On A Prayer and that is where you hear about Tommy and Gina, such a good song! Loved this reaction!!! Jon can't sing any longer because his vocal cords don't work like they did when he was younger, he is 62 now and still looks amazing and they tried to do a reunion show but stopped after a few shows because he couldn.t get his voice to hit the notes.

I’m a huge fan of Bon Jovi, and I’ve seen them in concert on February 14, 2001. Then 9-11 happened, and the entire world changed in an instant.

Yes, Bon Jovi did do a cover of Turn the Page - but it is not really well known to many people. It is on KZfaq of you want to check it out. It is an excellent cover very faithful to the original Bob Seger version.

It is a concept created by Jon. They represent an American working class couple. E.G “Gina dreams of running away she cries in the night Tommy whispers baby it's okay" They symbolise struggling American couple presumably. They come from the mind of Jon Bon Jovi. Great song!

Fantastic reaction as usual. Frank Sinatra was Jon Bon Jovi's great uncle which made this all the more special. Please react to the video of livin on a prayer. You'll find out who Tommy and Gina are. The song is fun and the band really has a good time performing it! Lots of energy.

Bon Jovi shows are fire. I once went to the Stone Pony (IYKYK) to hear Southside Johnny and Bon Jovi rolled in around midnight. And yes, Roger Troutmann from Zapp used that.

I loved loved Bon Jovi from high school. I wasn't allowed to go to rock concerts in high school....graduated in 1991. Finally got to see them 2 years ago. I was so disappointed they literally only played maybe 6 songs of their most popular songs. Played all mainly new stuff I had not heard yet.....not what I went for...still love them just not what I paid to experience....

Used to listen to Bon Jovi a lot growing up😁 But now you definitely need to check out the jamm session with Ren singing Sinatra's Fly me to the Moon! I don't think it's on his channel though, maybe on twitch. But you can find it on other yt channels under 'Ren karaoke rendition, Fly Me To the Moon' Sooooo much fun watching Ren being a goof😂

Tommy and Gina are characters from three songs (that I can recall) that Bon Jovi did, Living on a prayer, 99 in the shade, It’s my life. Bon Jovi didn’t do covers unless except when playing live. I know you loved Joe Cocker, With a little help from my friends, Bon Jovi did this live on MTV unplugged and it’s phenomenal, the band was at its tightest live at this point and still the original line up
