this was the wrong song to start listening to bts lol. bts started off as a hip hop group and have many rap-focused songs. i recommend you check out the four cyphers as well as ‘mic drop’, ‘outro : tear’ and ‘daechwita’ by agust d (suga from bts, he just has a different stage name when he releases his mixtape)

I wld suggest you should start with "Mic Drop (with steve aoki)", if you wanna dive in the BTS world. Then go for the group's rapline's projects Cypher 1-4 if you're into raps. Then go to their more meaningful messaged themes like Black Swan.. You will notice then that BTS is not about one music genre to convey their messages in their songs. BTS are the most versatile artists you can imagine, doing any genre they want. Their discography spans over 300 group and solo songs, so you need to lsten to several songs to get an understanding of what they are about. As a rapper you should know that there are three rappers in BTS - not singers who sometimes rap, but actual rappers who write their bars and also produce beats. You should probably start with Suga's solo track Daechwita as his solos alias Agust D. Make sure to turn on the subtitles for that track. Have fun!

Tbh, this isn’t their usual style even though it’s such a bop. Though they do put their stamp on it, which is what makes it good. Their stuff are usually a mix of harder, deeper, moving, relatable, and relevant lyrics/messages since they have a hand in writing and producing their music since the beginning (they’ve been around 2013). Their actual styles are mostly hip-hop based as they were originally supposed to be a hip-hop group, since first three members are rappers (two of which came from the underground rap scene and other from underground dance) but continually over time time incorporated other styles. So Hip-Hop, R&B, edm, pop/rock, jazz, Latin, etc as they are appreciators and lovers of music. They’re versatile and they honor their influences and the greats. This doesn't gives the actual image of bts . Bts are very versatile artist , i meant artist because they write ,compose , produce most of their songs. Their most of the songs touch the subject like mental health, depression, social injustice, anxiety, youths and beautiful messages of loving yourself. They write their life in their songs. If you start from 1st album to latest you can actually feel that those albums tell their story and also of many youth's story who go through hardship in their life. They literally started from bottom and do their stuff on own rather than other who only knows to rap and sing while their company makes and write songs.

The thing about bits is that they have slot of different songs that cross different genres. They’re recent stuff had been pretty poppy, but they have some good rap and rnb type songs

BTS has done a lot of different styles so there’s always something for everybody. I personally love the new song but I don’t recommend it for you because it’s a vocals only no rap song. But there’s a lot of good suggestions in the comments I think you’ll enjoy. My recommendations are Daechwita for and more dark sounding rap and Ego to contrast that (Both are solos). They’re truly a talented group so I appreciate the positive feedback on their music

I’m sure you’ll find songs you’ll love in BTS’ discography, but none of the 3 full english songs they have are those. Don’t get me wrong, i love BTS music, and one of the reasons why is because they self make and produce their stuff, but Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance, although very loved specially in the US, are so much not like them. And although over the years they’ve evolved and experimented with different rhythms and genres, which is awesome, they still always manage to keep their “taste” or “mark” on what they release. However, any of the songs named above, in my opinion, have that something. So, as someone who’s been listening to the group ever since they debuted, and knowing you’re a rapper yourself, i’d highly and humbly recommend you give a shot to some of their other (and realest) songs. We on, Hip hop phile, Rain, Cyphers 1-4, Ugh, Ddaeng, Outro: Tear and Dis-ease are just some of the group’s songs i’m sure you’d love. That without counting their solo stuff, out of the 7 members they got 3 rappers and each one of them has their own style; in that case i’d recommend RM - Do you | Agust D (aka Suga in BTS) - Daechwita | Jhope - Hope world.

Kpop isn't a genre, Kpop is an industry in Korea that create music for kids/adolescents, and not all singers/rappers/musicians in Korea are "kpop" 1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers 2. Bts compose and produce in all their albums, so is very personal, they sing about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc 3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) used to read and search to understand the link in their videos. Their last album for example was "map of the soul: 7" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Carl Jung. 4. The army love them because they are good people who started from a company in bankruptcy, and even being famous they stay humble. 5. They have a lot of genres but their base is very hiphop / rap. Also you can find subtitles in every possible language thanks to the fans, u only need to search with the name of the song or Activate cc. **Bts always present themselves as a Korean group, and always said they don't want to be labeled in a genre or industry. The fans also do not want to be mixed with kpopers, (most of us aren't kpop fans) we don't have the same ideals. Not because we like a group from korea that means we like all from that country.

BTS are indeed a K-pop group. They have just made a few fully English songs for international fans, including "Butter."

Also, this song, Butter, was more marketed towards just general international audience, so it really has that pop feel to it. I personally prefer a lot of their older songs, BTS was first set out to be a hip-hop group. They have a lot of nice older rap songs, as well as some good recent songs.

Just so you know the choreo for this song is like a walk in the park for them. This is one of 3 english songs they have the rest are Korean or Japanese with a bit of english thrown in. I would recommend you listen to things like Mic Drop, Not Today, Blood Sweat and Tears, Spring Day and On Kientic Manefesto Come Prima to get some idea of how diverse their music is.
