This got to me 😢 i went straight to my husband of 21 years. He saved me going on 23 years ago after an abusive relationship. I told him how much he means to me. I see him, I validate him and how hard it is to be a man. I thank God every day that he created him and i am the most blessed person that God chose for he and i ro be soulmates. He works 14 hour days and comes home and is wore out from working in 104 degree weather and never complains. I see you my amzing husband, father of my 2 daughters, Grandfather to our 4 soon to be 5 Grandsons. He is an amazing provider and protector. I told him if i ever invalidated his worries and feelings that i am so very sorry.. I will always protect and provide for him as he has done for all of us. He is my whole world and i will always be right by his side and a ahoulder to cry on if needed.

In 2019 at 39 I had a triple bypass for a genetic heart condition. My wife walked the day I went into surgery. Took my sons. I rarely drink and only used drugs prescribed NY my doctor. I was not abusive. I worked 90+hrs a week to feed clothe and house my family. In '21 lost my right leg, and in 22' my left leg. The systemic break down i suffered destroyed my kidneys and pancreas. After everything else, I ended dialysis.The whole time I was dealing with the divorce, the insurance, disability, and the VA with no one to help. I retaught myself how to walk on the prosthetics. I'm up to about 1.5 miles walking. I just jogged (about 100m) for the first time since '19. I fought. I fought harder than I ever did in the Army as an Infantryman... harder than I ever did as a private contractor, harder than I ever did as a bouncer. The difference was that here I'm fighting for my sons. I dont ask God for things very often. I ask him for guidance. I ask him to help and bless people that really deserve it. This time I asked him to let me live until both of my sons are done with school, about 10 more years. Everything I've done since that..., every fall, every sore muscle, every sore stump, has been to prove to God that allowing me that 19 yrs is worth it. My sons are the Heirs Apparent to Gen X... Gen Alpha. They need a father. And to be honest, I'm selfish... I want to see the strong young men these two beautiful boys can become. I want to teach them about what they have coming as they become men. I should've been dead 2 or 3 dozen times since I was 12. I KNOW that I'm living on borrowed time. I just hope I can be the dad they need... this is the reason I fight. "But what if you die?" When I die, I will great Death like an old lover. I will kiss her cold cheek, pinch her bottom, and walk with her a while... but until that day I fight.

I raised my sons on my own without their father and I know they say a woman cannot teach a boy to be a man but I hope I taught my boys who are now grown men that there is nothing within their reach or power believe in themselves always.. Life will throw some obstacles in their way and they will find it tough but God will see them through my love and guidance will see them through I always listen to my sons no matter how bad or sad it may be to hear. this song just breaks me. having a partial absent father, mistreated partner and having to raise my own family members that aren't my kids. this song hits hard and it speaks all the bars about what men go through and having to hide because no one but the=m themselves will only understand. I hate the stereotype that men can't express their feelings otherwise they are considered as weak. we don't all appreciate how much men go through silently, but always expect them to have soft hands and hearts. it literally is saying "don't judge a book by its cover" "you don't see me or hear me that is why you judge me". we all need to consider that everyone is going through something but isn't willing to say it out loud. no body is perfect.
