The Eminem Show was the 1st album I have ever physically owned and ironically, my mom was the one that got me it on the Christmas after it dropped (I was like 12 or 13 yo at the time). To this day, my favorite album of any artist in genres that include rock/metal/rap/hiphop.

My mom 1st bought TES and MMLP back in 2003 at a pawnshop for 3 bucks each and would play it while cleaning and thats how i go into him then Encore came out when i was 12 and loved it. Then that same year some kid at school was selling the 8 mile soundtrack so i bought it. And then came home put it in my player...... It was the clean version

The Eminem Show is my favourite of his. He’s done a lot of amazing work, but maybe it’s cause I was listening as a teenager, but the way he channeled and focused his anger, made it so smooth and poetic. It holds a special place for me, I love the flow and aggression combination

This was a nice trip down memory lane for me. I remember I was in 8th grade when I came acrossed him for the first time. There was a lot of turmoil going on in my life; my older sister pasted away and left us with my 3 year old nephew to raise, and the rest of my family just fell apart. His first 3 albums really spoke to me and got me through all of that. Linkin Park was another one that got me through, maybe you could do one by them next? Lol

Before Ems genius and sextuple entendres he likely unintentionally had one of the best in this song, or knowing him it was intentional - but Eric and Erica and both whitish names in the word AmERICA. Which could have symbolized how embedded White race was in America adding a double layer to the song name White America - Eric and Erica are so embedded in the word America itself.

Oh yeah this was planned...eric and erica are direct syllables within America. He also chose because of Columbine and the flack he and specifically Marilyn were getting at the time. I saw a random OLD interview of him talking about this song specifically...had to be not too long after release because Proof was standing around in the random crowd. I am a music educator the same age as him , and had recently graduated/started teaching right when his explosion happened. At the time I taught middle and high school, and was absolutely enamored with his/dre skills. I remember my principal getting a few parental concern calls about me using his music as part of my lessons. The funny part about that is I only used his instrumental versions, which are perfect resources to teach a plethora of musical concepts! Parents were pissed off because their kids became even more intrigued over the fact their TEACHER valued his music on another level 😂. My taste in music is quite eclectic, and Em still sits close to the top of my favorite artists. I now have kids of my own who are also quite musically inclined, and I'm thrilled that they, on their own accord, are huge fans of his technical ability 😊.

Since the first time I heard Eminem I became a fan. I was 15 years old, it was "The Real Slim Shady", and for me he's the best rapper out there: amazing lyrics, incredible delivery... I hadn't listened to much rap before than him (I'm from Spain and rap wasn't as mainstream here as it was on the US), but after that, rap became (still is, ofc) one of my favourite music genres. Love your music, btw!

Shit... I was also in the 9th Grade for 3 years going on my 4th and I just dropped out. Nice to know that fact about Eminem. This has always been one of my favorite Eminem songs and albums. I remember watching everything on either the news or our music channel about Em vs the US govt and protesters during this time 😂. As a Canadian, I was so frickin mad (still hold a grudge) that our government wouldn't let him come perform!!! So many of us missed the opportunity to see him live during the height of it all 😥. Love this song. It was actually my dad that had introduced Eminem to me, which is funny since I grew up listening more to 80’s and 90’s rock and heavy metal, I normally identify more towards this genres. But Eminem really opened my interest in hip hop

And an important thing is " Eric " is not a generic name. It's refering to the 1999 High school shotting at the time, it was the deadliest high school shooting in U.S. history. #SlimShady #Eminem was the only rapper they were trying to ban as much as The 1st GTA at the same exact time and they failed then, they definitely fail now. He's been used as the scapegoat before he was the white goat, then went triple play in G.O.A.T. They'll never cancel him at all they've tried and tried and failed and failed. He was the fucken Man and that interest is exactly what brought that bridge you were talking about #Knox. And he used that like the stock market and built his empire that way because PR is PR. Even bad PR gets your name out and when the hype dies, all that's left is the name. He could have went up any ladder he climbed. But #proof sending him to #Dre and #tricktrick took that shit and spin it for him and marketed the white boy and he just ride up from there when Vanilla ice was out because no one could follow Em. So ice should have been saying thank you cause He bridged the gap that was caused by shit from that time paving the way for every other good white rapper possible in the culture!

I was born in 1974, and came up watching Em and TRL. You know Eric and Erica are part of AmERIC(A) which makes Em’s genius all the more incredible. This among many reasons is why Eminem is and always will be the GOAT! Period.

What I love about rap is that it’s a completely different way to use your voice. Instead of singing melodies like most other genres, rap uses the voice almost like a drum set. You enunciate and stress certain syllables to get this rhythmic flow. It’s fascinating and wildly enjoyable!

Yo Knox, you should definitely check out “Thoughts” by Menace, he’s an Australian rapper that honestly has been around for a long ass time but does not get the recognition he deserves plus it’d introduce a lot of people to our aggressive style of rap in Aus. “Thoughts” is probably one of my favourite songs I’ve heard recently, incredibly raw and personal. Other than that, I fucking love this song. Great reaction as always 💯

I am asking him to do this too!. Nowhere Fast ft. Kehlani (Extended Version is the best one imo), Arose, Castle, In Your Head, River, etc. I like all the songs from Revival tbh.
