Did you notice the cigar? During the transition from Che's 2nd verse to Guy's, Che flicks his cigar at Guy who deflects it as he is deflecting Che's bar: "Don't try to boast about your banknotes with Guido". It lands on the barrel of gunpowder in the background and lights it, causing the explosion on the last bar.

They literally build effigies and stand outside shops and say “penny for the guy” to raise money before burning them which I believe relates to people who tried to raise money for his defence when he was being tortured and forced to admit to the crime.

right? i think it's because most reactors think they should be quiet while watching a video. Like a lot of reactors will actually apologize for talking/pausing when that's the whole point of watching a reactor. in the UK it used to be that kids would be on the streets on Bonfire Night with an effigy of Guy Fawkes to some degree, and go around houses and ask people "Penny for the Guy", a way to make some money to buy fireworks, where you would then burn the Guy Fawkes on the bonfire afterwards

I looked up Guy Fawkes Day (5 November) and I saw this quote: "Penny for a Guy" which is a play of Guy Fawkes' name. So when Che says "Penny for the scapegoat", he also references the saying "penny for a guy" as well.

Fun Fact: The word "Gringo" is etymologically similar to the word "Barbarian" in that it's meaning comes from a word or phrase meaning, basically "person who doesn't speak X language" with "gringo" referring to Spanish, while "Barbarian" is either Greek or Latin, depending on who you ask.

As a side note, the beard that Peter is rocking as Guy Fawkes is real. He let his beard grow out before this battle and they shaved it into shape. And Guido is refering to the fact that when Guy Fawkes had so sign his name after being tortured, it looked like Guido, because he was, as he sang, tortured until he could hardly sign his name.

You're thinking of "Penny for the Guy," in Britain we used to have the tradition of wheeling a scarecrow dressed as Guy around town in a wheelbarrow asking for pennies. Then we'd burn the effigy for fun on bonfires, which are usually associated with fireworks, cos...y'know. Gunpowder. We still have the fireworks and bonfires, but we don't do the whole...begging for pennies thing, as far as I'm aware Also, if you think a man killing himself before his execution stops them from hanging him, drawing him and quartering him, emasculating him and sending his parts to the four corners of the country, you're dead wrong, bud. The reason for 2 fingers being more common in UK is believed to be due to archers in medieval times. Archers would have those fingers removed as a punishment so they couldn't use a bow. So it was them pretty much showing of they still have them as an F.U. to the people in charge.

Guy's hand gesture during the "I don't give two Guy Fawkes" line from what I heard had 4 meanings 1. 2 fingers raised, 2 Guy Fawkes 2. The British flip-off like you mentioned 3. 2 fingers raised make a V which is a subtle nod to V for Vendetta 4. Might be a stretch but, the way Guy raised them is similar to the clock hands pointing at 11:05, referring to the date which Gunpowder Plot took place

I usually dont subscribe to reaction channels, just because I go through phases with watching them. That being said, I'm thoroughly impressed with your intelligence and dedication to your craft. I was part of the 40% but I decided to subscribe, because I'm genuinely impressed with your content. Keep up the good work, compadre. You should do William Shakespeare vs Dr Seuss. Watsky plays Shakespeare, his flow is nuts and the bars are real. Then if you want one that is on the funnier side check out Mr T vs Mr Rodgers. It has some of the most savage lines of all the rap battles.

I thaught I was sick of watching reactions to ERB's but then I discovered Knox, the relaxed tempo with which you go through these is refershing. Most people smel a hype and jump on it, you keep enjoying it (I think) by going at it week by week. Which I love!That's why I've been sucked in and eagerly waiting each week for the past 3 (?) months. The only one I skipped was Thanos vs Eisenhower(because it's less of a favorite for me), but because of your remark in this video I will watch it after typing this comment. Good video as always, love watching these ERB ones! Regarding the video quality dip, I try to always just keep it manually set to "1080p" (or whatever) in that little cog wheel, rather than "Auto" because sometimes it just messes up, especially when you jump around in the timeline a lot.

It’s definitely a synth sound but it seems to based off a xylophone or a marimba. Marimbas have a lot of resonance but it dies off in the high end. Either way as a percussionist it’s pretty clearly a synth or midi version.

It also has a slight Kalimba feel which are those little thumb pianos. Pretty cool little instruments

This is real good stuff man, I'll admit, even the ERBs that I already understood, I watch your breakdown anyways because there's always something I missed. Btw, the "u" in "Guevara" is actually silent. The way to remember is (in spanish) if there is a "g" or "q" to the left of the "u", and a "e" or "i" to the "u"'s right, then the "u" is silent. It is only pronounced if it has 2 dots above the "u", like this "ü". The "u" is silent in these cases: "que," "qui," "gue," and "gui."
