so basically, when she talks about how she 'just drove by your house', she's not talking about like a lover or anything. she actually had to leave her own family when she was only a teenager so that's what she was referring to when she said 'so far from you now' (she talks about how she had to leave her home to go become a trainee). the scenes where she was in that house filled with roses at the end was a symbolism of her visiting her childhood and who she used to be with her past memories. the ending is a good one because it's almost as if she really did find herself and came to terms with both sides of herself as an idol and a person in general. i'm not completely sure but i think when she said 'just drove by your house', she was talking about driving through her past memories and like i mentioned before, looking back at her past self. and like you said, 'everything i need is on the ground' kinda symbolizes how she doesn't have to like climb up these steps or be way up in the clouds to be truly happy cause sometimes looking too far up or too far ahead in life can cause us to miss something more important that's standing right in front of us. i actually think it's a really beautiful song cause i reminds us to also take things one step at a time and appreciate what we have that's standing right there.

Could also be talking about Roseanne her old self ( drove by your house) and that Roseanne was far from her now like her old self is not there anymore but she figure it out ( telling her old self) that her family and her true friends are still there that truly loves her and that is all she needs. With the stairs also that said “ Roses are dead, love is fake” could also mean that everything is there is not all real. She might have a lot of followers and people shows her a lot of love but once she is not in that pedestal anymore which is the stairs all of those love will disappear that is why it’s saying. 😻😻

I also think it goes back to fame. So many singers or actors or whatever think - oh yeah once I’m famous I’ll have everything I want. And once they get it they realize it can’t buy happiness. So she’s so high off the ground because of the fame and having everything she ever wanted but in reality her memories and friendships and families and youth are the ground and keep HER grounded and are what matters.

Also the scene with piano, has a very deep meaning. You missed that part.... The one who was playing a piano is Roseanne, a trainee who is working hard on reaching her dream to get high, and the one who’s watching her is Rosé, who worked all her life just to get high on where is right now but she realized that in reality, everything she need was on the ground.

This song is literally about her. She tells everyone that how she starts her career from 0. She tells us that even she already on the top but she still want to find her true self, like you can see during scene where she write her name Rosé and then Roseanne which her real name, her true self. Even during she playing piano with another Rosé. I think she (Rosé now /wear pink dress) want to look back her past Roseanne (the white shirt) to make sure that she will not lost her true self, happy with her now, and see how struggle she go to the top like right now The mv tell us that, when we already work hard and get what we deserve, we can't forget about how struggle we are during past life, the most important thing is that we need to look back our true self, and never get blind by the achievement, compliment.

On the video she runs on barefoot to remind us that whatever your position in life whether you're a celebrity or a simple person you must always keep your feet on the ground. And the wrecking of Limousine, Limo is a status symbol right? So why did they wrecked it? To say that Rosé don't care about fame, all she wants to do is what she loves to do, make music. All that she want is Love, Family, Music and Friends, the simple life. And i think she floats in the end but right in the middle of the sky and the ground right because Rosé figured it out, the balance of being a simple and down to earth person and being a famous celebrity.

actually this song isn't about relationships, the you and I stands for the old self vs the current/new self. Many people can relate to the song because you always set a goal to head for the high point but once you get there, you will realized this isn't really what you need. Things that you need were always with you all this time. Also Roseanne is her real english name. And back in her childhood days she is always enjoying music and playing the piano in Australia with her family singing until midnight. Now she can't do that anymore because she's too busy with her life as an idol. And she's looking back at those happy times of her life as a child.

lma0 "relationship" doesn't always refer to something romantic... it definitely could mean the relationship a person has with themselves - known as a SELF-RELATIONSHIP! He pretty much nailed the analysis of the song and mv - which was evident when he spoke about the conflict between Rosé as a persona and Roseanne as who she really is (or was before becoming Rosé of Blackpink).

You were concentrating so hard on the music that you totally missed one of the most important scenes, where her younger self (Roseanne) is playing the piano for her. This scene is important because when she sings "I just drove by your house" she is singing about her childhood home (notice the hole in the wall in the house? The opening lines of the song mention "I used to have a hole in the wall with a mattress"). Lots of other symbolism such as the movie that was playing in the theatre, and even her Koala t-shirt point to her childhood in Australia. The "you and I" is Rosé and Roseanne.

@@teresaansorena9693 yes, I agree that you cannot possibly see everything, especially the first time you watch. Much of the symbolism would be missed by many unless you know Rosé's story quite well. The point that I was making is that he wasn't even looking at the screen during the most important part of the story, I don't blame him though as her voice is so beautiful that it would distract any music lover on first hearing.

Rosé is just so multi-talented artist. She took risk on hér solo debut. Despite that Knetz may not accept hér song bc it's all in Englis, but the GP wholeheartedly loved hér song, she even charted high on korean charts. Rosé also is such a very smart Songwriter. The lyrics of On the Ground is so very humbling.

The song is about a relationship-a relationship between Roseanne Park and Rosé. You’ll notice “Rosé “ is wearing a black dress with black scarf (Blackpink), while Roseanne is wearing a white shirt with “Koala” (representing Australia, where she grew up). Then at the end, the color of her dress is light pink-a combination of the dark pink and white she was wearing. She finally reconciled her two selves.

"Roses are dead, love is fake" reference means once you reach the top, you might lose yourself(roses are dead). And you might not know who loves you for real because you're a celebrity(love is fake). The scene with the two rosé's symbolize two things: your have Rosé, the blackpinik member dressed in black and pink. and then you have Roseanne, Rosie's real name dressed in white, looking younger and pure. So Rosé goes back to her roots by visiting Roseanne old house and she's looking at her old self and looking happy at it, while Roseanne is playing the piano, practicing and aspiring to become Rosé, the blackpink member. In the mirror you have Roseanne writting Rosé because that's what she wants to become, but then it cuts to the present, where Rosé wrote Roseanne, because she realized that's who she needs to be in order to be happy.

the song is about her talking to her past self that's why you can see that she wrote in the mirror her stage name "rosé" then changed to "roseanne" which is her real name and notice how when she wrote "rosé" you can see her but when it turned "roseanne" she disappeared? just like when she became famous and all she started to lose her real self. one thing you also missed (bcs you were really memerized by her voice 😂) is her looking at her old self playing the piano.

You got everything right except that relationship part, it was between her present self and her past self, that is before her rise to fame. This song basically means how happiness in life is not about being successful and getting higher up but rather about how you celebrate what you ALREADY have, your close ones and all. Hence ' Everything I need is ON THE GROUND.' Great reaction as always Knox. Waiting for Gone.

10:38 Rosé was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia so she has an english name, but she is also from a korean family so she also has a korean name. So her korean name is Park Chae-young, but the names in the mv are the stage name and the english name Her english name is Roseanne Park, thats where her stage name comes from (Rosé). Also it is possible to see the other members calling her other names like Rosie for example.

Not English name actually, but her birth/real/legal name. If you called it as her English name , it sounds like Roseanne is not her real name and kinda had 2 names. In fact that we couldn't has 2 names in our life for documents and something. Her legal name is Roseanne Park. The song is really emotional. The message revolves around her life, looking back at her old self when life may seem to be more simple. Then to her current status wherein she's now really successful but realizing all that she needs are not those things but those she misses through her normal life, her family, friends, their love and support. I love her sooo much! Thank you so much for supporting her and the rest of Blackpink members! ❤️

At the beginning of the video u see a bunch of chandaliers scattered outside the theatre. I think they represent past blackpink videos since chandaliers are often incorporated to the visuals of a blackpink video. That’s how i personally see it haha

Rosé has a special relationship with the ground. She is also known as "the ground girl" because in a lot of MV/songs she was giveng the dancing part on the ground. Back then there were a lot of meme. In DDU DU DDU DU Jisoo makes fun of herself because people criticized her funny legs moves while dancing by falling down and Rosé gave us a different side of what everyone was expecting by shooting and making herself looking down on us (this time we are on the ground). I love the meaning of this song. Even if she is Rosé, the idol, she's still the humble girl Roseanne. Her fame and popularity can't replace what she has on the ground: family, friends, loved ones and so on. I hope to have added new info. XOXO from France
