Aesop is dope AF. Most talented dude in music as far as I'm concerned. Self produces these days and those albums have been next level.

Now I've got a colostomy bag but I'm rocking out the special edition orange vinyl with the light up case and I also got the lab coat. When it comes to vocabulary really I have to hear the words. Like it just being pure speed isnt what interests me as much. I want to see the structure, i want the natural rhythm to be able to be felt just be looking at the words. Like since aesop was being mentioned, here is one from gopher guts and how its phrasaed Gotta little plot of land where authority isn't recognized Contraband keepin the core of his Hyde Jekyllized. Like you can just read that you you can extract that rhythm from it, its just like bam, cant be ignored and looking at a deep concept about how he just burns all day to squash the side of him that is just self destructive and can never truly escape, but hes also got a double meaning tossed in there as hyde can be dr jekyl and mr hyde hyde is the skin of a beast, which is a jackle is a beast. So that's really what im looking for, and vocabulary is a huge suppliment becausae it allows you to construct shit like that and on lazy eye the line "Went from healthy to unhealthy to hell he never leaves" thats a fucking line right there, it almost sounds when saying it like it just the same word repeated three times.

All Natural has to up there. I know when I listen to them they use a lot of people from the past and if you are not aware of the names used the ra can go over most people's head. That's not vocab but they're good for that also.

Listen…. Vocab is great but find me a rapper who’s more passionate than DMX? Who’s last in this list I believe? Passion is forgotten about in rap a lot of times! Being lyrical is great but how you feeling!

Nah that's a bit inaccurate to say having a large vocabulary has been "stressed" in HipHop. The tradition of call & respond in Black art forms aren't rigid like that Doug E. Fresh said Biz Markie would battle entire crews off showmanship i.e. Biz's witty humor & Biz dance Q-Tip spoke how ODB would drop a few lines & floor a crowd. We know ODB didnt express a large vocabulary. Even early LONS rapped basic but their delivery & energy was a game changer which is why they were given their name. But it's cool bottle cap trivia to know vocab #'s I suppose. With word document counters, why not?🤷‍♂
@fromdajump
@fromdajump 3 ай бұрын
I don't disagree that style and flow have always been what attracted people to Hip-Hop especially in an arena like battling but look at the evolution. The centerpiece of why newer artists aren't considered as talented is based around content and the ability to manipulate words ie wordplay. The forefather of modern rap styles is considered Rakim who is lyrical and Most top 10 list nowadays include some of the most lyrical rappers of all times. I believe you can't create more detailed rap without a vocabulary.

😢here is the embarrassing thing. Myka and bus driver are choppers. Chopping didn't start in the mid west. Project blowed is the home of the chop. Everyone from project blowed chops, and with much more style and with much better lyrical content than anybody from the Midwest.
@fromdajump
@fromdajump 8 ай бұрын
I can respect that. Choppers and the term chopping is def west coast. Coming from Chicago we didn't call it that back in the 90s when Twista got his Guiness world record for speed. We called it Twisting. I think later on all speed rap got grouped together when TECH 9 created a resurgence of speed rap.

I don’t buy myka 9 as the top of vocab. Aesop has an unmatched lyrical mastery all you need to do it throw on a track from any of his projects especially early stuff where he stacks strange an esoteric words like an alien.
@losxdescabezados
@losxdescabezados 2 ай бұрын
No disrespect to Myka9 but, it seems like he just says a lot of words in his songs and isn't too heavy on the esoteric or metaphoric. It could be my ignorance to his catalog, but still dope and I definitely need to check more of his stuff out!
@fromdajump
@fromdajump 2 ай бұрын
We didn't make the system we just went based on the reports. One thing to note is that Myka 9 raps way faster than Aesop and based on the system used he would win just due to that factor alone.
