Back then, she showed her legs (that was exposing yourself back the ). That was exposing herself to sell records. Black Woman/ Women, unfortunately, have to sell their body until later. It’s sad, but y’all need to stop bashing women who want to, it’s giving misogyny.

This makes me soooooo happy. She's so relaxed. A huge smile on her face. Totally unguarded. Actually having fun. By 1990 the industry and the tabloids had hardened her and she was almost always guarded and reserved, often aloof, in her interviews because she always thought they had an agenda. Seeing Whitney still having fun in her career always brought me joy.

I like the fact that she could relate to almost everybody, everybody kept trying to claim her, when she wasn't black enough for some she was too hood, I think Whitney had charm and class and she could relate to anyone. She could be down when she wanted to and be a princess when she wanted to, everybody keeps trying to claim her as this or that ,I hope she knew who she was because that's all that matters. People think because they buy your music they are supposed to know what's. going on in your life, these people's lives belong to them, fans should just buy the music, go to concerts then go home and mind they're own damn business

@@angelasantiago7426 just shut up. That's how I feel about what you commented. Just shut that up. Whitney Elizabeth Houston-Brown did have something special and rare. The problem might have been that she was a bit too sensitive and the U.S.A picked at her because she took black entertainers to another level with her kind of beauty, talent, sophistication, maturity, etc. This beast tore her apart, ate her alive. Sad. So shut what you're saying right up. Thank you.

Whitney so articulate, beautiful, and talented. I never could understand why she had some of her personal issues. I think it was the era of the 80's and 90's and also the demands of the business. Just through and through. And Neil Young, didn't nobody "sell out." Black folks had to break down doors back in the 80's so that generations to come would get that same exposure. You're a white man so you wouldn't understand.....

This is when Whitney reminded me of Diana Ross in the sense of her classic-pop princess appeal when Diana was in her prime and both were vulnerable. Diana could own what White people thought was theirs as well as what Black R&B artists could do with that unique tone, so she got backlash from both groups, just like Whitney did. Not black enough for the Blacks and wanna-be-down Whites; yet, too Black for the Whites that didn’t like her pop reign. History repeats itself. Whitney was bothered by this in the long run, whereas Diana was not affected like that.

So true - I wish Whitney could have had the same thick skin Diana had and not care what either side thought. Diana is still here with us at 76 yrs old and sadly Whitney didn't live long enough to see her 50's.

The one compliment that keeps going around about Whitney during this time was her poise. She was very sophisticated in the most respectful manner ever. She was very media polished and I loved that for her. I didnt realize there was questions about her religion and sexuality in the 80s WOW! But People dont realize how popular and famous whitney was becoming she was so huge in the late 80s and early 90s. Then a resurgence with the body guard she dominated between 1987-1996. Can't be live at 5pm if she's wearing the same outfit from the 'tomorrow night' promo, lol. Love this upload, thank you

I LIVE for the 80's 'Whitney' era, it will always be my favorite time in her career & Whitney in her frizzy extensions is my absolute fave. When the MOT truth tour went over seas she got longer extensions put in. I just loved how youthful and playful they were on her and how they moved on their own and with the wind. It's weird the things I notice (like that orange and blue dress. I love it on her and there are lots of photos of her in it) and love about this woman. Endlessly fascinating.
