Rare! 8-Car Shore Line East Diesel Set @ New London Sailfest & Amtrak 168! | ALMTrains

Жыл бұрынDescription: On July 9, Shore Line East set up an 8 Car Diesel Set to run to New London as their last scheduled train of the night. It was made twice as long due to the crowd attending the sailfest for the end of the night fireworks. Rebuilt P40’s 6705 (ex-AMTK841) & 6709 (ex-NJT4801) did the honors of powering this train.

This is an amazing catch! It is cool to see the diseal and and Coaches return for a special Train during to crowds at thr fireworks! Hopefully they do this every year during fireworks as an opportunity to see the diseal and Coaches on the SLE lol

Maybe they will maybe they won’t, time will tell. But what I Can tell is during the usual New England winter season, I won’t doubt that some trains will be replaced with diesel sets ❄️

@@a.l.m.trains agreed, I can see that happening due to possible overhead wire problems or Pantagraph problems caused by ice or just the cold weather. The cold tends to mess with the electrical units during thr winter sometimes

A double ended SLE set too! I guess there weren't enough M8s for this extra run? Great catch regardless.

Thanks! From what I’ve heard, SLE is not allowed to add more M8’s to a train, they’re only allowed to run two pairs per train by Metro-North.

They had to clear the crossings since the consist is too long for it to sit in the station
