Can we talk about the fact that Nicky was bodying people twice his size, and the first time something actually stands up to his strength, it's the fucking Wardens of Hell? Because holy shit what a good way to highlight how different things are.

I know right. I mean in his prime in life Nicky was a druggie or drug addict but he did get into fights frequently so he must've been like very lean but strong. The fact that when he was nearing middle age he still got to beat up like 3 other buff dudes that were shanking Ben in prison(the 3 musketeers referred in the song).

0:44 I just realized, the carts, both have symbols on them, symbolizing where each person was going, the wing symbolized heaven, the carts with skulls, symbolized hell. Nicky was riding the one with a skull, symbolizing his destination at the end.

From an analytical standpoint, I like how the lyrics eventually incorporate the hell and heaven in him, combining both in the final chorus to say “That son of a bitch was gold”, to show everyone has duality, especially Nicky

wait a minute I just realized something. In a lot of these stories, people's souls in the afterlife appear as they were during the best years of their life. When we find Ben in hecc land, he's still in the prison garb and everything, exactly how he was when he was friends with nicky. I like to think that those years in particular were his best because of nicky.

Sorry to ruin this joke. This is technically a prequel. This tells how he becomes a skeleton ghost thing. And in BBN1, it’s him in his skeleton ghost form telling his story to us. Nicky is somewhat self aware.

Personally, I think it's rather that "His Skeleton Form" in the first one and most of this one, until the very end, isn't actually him, but it's someone else who made the same choices as him. As we see when he becomes a skeleton (which, I assume by how we see a bunch of them next to the angels when he's entering heaven, are the forms of all demons in this world), he possesses someone else to do back stuff, so the skeleton in the first MV is a different Demon possessing him to do this stuff. When the lyrics say "I made the most of a terrible start", he's right, cause it wasn't him doing the bad stuff, it was this other demon forcing him to, hence why the demon in the first MV was enjoying it so much, cause he was using Nicky to get his own reward assumedly (just as Nicky uses that guy at the end to try to get his reward of meeting his mom.) Nicky isn't just a product of a bad system in life, but in death too, that's his "terrible start".

Basically do grunt work for the system, we can see with the skeletons they operate as guards, watchers, enforcers in the material world. And vehicles apparently? And most likely gate operators welcoming and moving people along, or the special cases at the least like Nicky, where it's going to be hard to contain them.

Nicky is probably the physically strongest protagonist from all of the rare American songs, he squares up with cops, fights off 3 prison inmates and holds his own against 3 demon guards

The duality of it all is quite interesting. You've got a protagonist who's made mistakes, but chooses to make the best of a bad situation. Then God or Fate or whatever decides to send him and his family to hell when, really, none of them are bad people. Nicky calls God out for his hypocrisy and then does what he does best, make the best of what he's been dealt. I think the moral of the story is, when the odds aren't in your favor, hang on and fight back. Don't give up on yourself; don't give up on people.
