@@MattBorchert The fact of the matter is , , , qualified professional artists can no longer get access to any of the top NFT sales platforms. The application process either does not function, is way too limited, or the site wants new artist to be "recommended" by existing contributors. Until there is a viable solution, this whole market means nothing to most quality digital artists. This also limits what buyers have exposure to for their collections. This video also fails to stress the high cost of offering work for sale on even the secondary sites in regards to upload fees and commissions. Many artists posting on available secondary sites will never recover the costs associated with listing there. NFT sales are still a mess and are worthy of being ignored until this mess goes through substantial shake-out and more viable options are available for sellers & buyers.. @John Smith Just seeing this now, but why would that be a scam? It costs money to use the network, regardless of the marketplace. Networks have costs to operate and therefore have fees. Remember, if you don't pay for a service, you are the product being sold.

For me I believe that 3D / animated work tends to be more successful on these platforms. Not always the case, but it does help it stand out. So I've been learning fairly simple things in after effects to see how I can manipulate my work a little bit. Also I think we're just scratching the surface of where this technology could go, so there are many exciting unknowns yet to really be pushed forward. I expert the AR / VR space is going to really utilize this technology. Think VR galleries of scarce digital art.

Old school digital artist here: I don't see any references to resolution -- pixel dimensions -- for there images. I used to create 300 dpi digital files for print, but I don't see any awareness of anything but screen resolution. What it looks like on a computer or a phone. Does any of that still matter? Or can I just sell a 600 x 900 piece of digital artwork, that will never have enough resolution to even print on a T shirt?

Hypothetically you can have an NFT for sale on multiple platforms at the same time. I'm doing this right now on OpenSea as well as Rarible for an NFT that I did not create but am selling. Up to you, you just have to pay gas fees to list it on both markets.

You can contact the marketplaces and they will remove the stolen work, basically making it impossible to be seen anywhere.

I can see the file types, I like rarible the best, however I want to sell my 3D art as an nft, as in the future I want people to be able to see them in VR or AR. Can you do this with rarible? maybe selling an image and then unlocking the 3D file once bought?

That will certainly be a huge deal in the future. When it comes to platforms and the capabilities of the NFT itself, that shouldn't matter. What will matter is how was the NFT made and is it compatible for the goals you have in mind. I'm not an expert on that though so I'd do some searching to see what examples already exist of that.

First, best of luck to you! Second, if you have a few pieces of art, I would take the time to submit to Nifty Gateway and tell them your story. They would handle the uploading process, getting it onto the blockchain, and all of the related fees for you. For platforms that cost almost nothing, check out AtomicHub. The potential success will be lower, but you can upload art after you create a free wallet and maybe you'd need to put $5 worth of WAX tokens into it for additional space.

@@agostinhoserra It's really up to you to decide what platform is best. See which ones seem to have artwork similar to yours that sell at decent prices. ETH gas fees are going to be bad for a bit longer, there isn't anything we can do about it sadly.

The gas fees are set by the Etherium network activity (more activity means higher gas prices), and due to the volatility of ETH prices right now they're very very high. Once ETH 2.0 hits this will be a non-problem, but that's a ways out. I would personally wait for gas prices to calm to $30 or below before doing so, but they haven't been that low in weeks.

what do people do with digital art? do they just look at it on their computer? do they print it out. whats the difference from just screenshotting it

The difference is you own it and you can prove you own it. It's verified as coming directly from the original artist who sold it. Think of it like owning a reproduction of the Mona Lisa and the real Mona Lisa. Sure, you can have a copy and enjoy it, but it will never have any real value either. NFTs are the same way -- people just get a bit stuck on the perception of what "real" is. I believe we'll grow past that eventually, but right now the early adopters are moving in and getting involved at a very early state. Ultimately it's whatever makes you happy, and I love being able to support artists so directly via their NFTs.

I think time will have to tell, right now at least most people think in terms of the relative USD value as opposed to focusing solely on the ETH value, but if crypto becomes more and more mainstream and people start to think in terms of Bitcoin or ETH as the value marker, than that mindset would make a ton of sense.

Can anyone explain how digital nft art is covered? eg what is to stop anyone screenshotting or downloading your art for free?

Anyone can do that, but it would be easy to spot as a fake. The value comes from the ability to determine that a given nft is the one the artist sold directly. Think of it like a reproduction of a real painting vs. the real one.

Thanks for the reply, i'm literally just learning about this industry. So people buy the art just to hold digitally? As it can't be displayed (edit) also how can you protect your work from copyright

Yes, to hold digitally, although some NFTs also serve as ownership of physical items. We're just scratching the surface of what is possible right now. When you think about the future of VR / AR, I believe that these will explode as a way of having provable ownership of digital items in digital worlds. Technology isn't fully there yet, but it will be soon, which is why I believe there is so much big money speculative buying going on right now. Platforms that sell NFTs will help you protect copyright, but the same problems exist that do in the physical world. People are free to copy, it's illegal, but they will. The difference is the tech behind NFTs makes it very very very easy to spot fakes as they won't be attributed to the real creator or collections.

All of the cards I put on the WAX blockchain sold in about a day. I don't really push my own work however as I'm more focused on collecting and providing information to others in the space. I may do more in the future.

You could, but I would not do that and keep artwork exclusive to a given platform. That is, if you make a unique piece, keep it unique. :)

what is to prevent someone to just copy the image and blast on the internet? how do people get to enjoy and share an NTF to others or on a wall?

People can absolutely do that, but they'll be easily identifiable as being copies and not original, and therefore they'll have no value. You can display NFTs using any sort of a monitor or screen, but I think where they will really take off is once AR/VR hits mass adoption.

I think there should be a "comision" for this, if it's shit then it should be denied to be there. The junk there is generated by ppl who are not actual artists just ppl expecting to get "rich" in few minutes.

i dont really understand it, why do people buy images that anyone can download? is it about pride of ownership of an image written into the blockchain? what if someone changes like 1 pixel and then sells it as a new nft, even tho they are visually indistingishable? having a heard time understanding what this nft stuff is all about..
