On “My Car Story” we're in Rosemont IL at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals on 11-17-22.
We’re looking at a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette in White Paint. The car comes with a 327 CI V8 engine, the 36.5 gallon “Tanker” gas tank with a 4 Speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Michael Johnson. Michael’s had this car since 2018. Michael has a “Tanker” of every year Corvette produced, and shares in 1967 there were only 2 “Tankers”. This car was the one that completed his collection of Tankers from 1963 to 1967. Congratulations on adding the “final puzzle piece” and completing the set!

¡Saludos cordiales, Lou!.

IMO...The 327/4sp combo from that era, is the most tractable, drivable and fun combo to experience...lots of power, but does not kill you at the gas station. That 327 is likely the greatest V8 that Chevrolet ever developed.

Let me get this straight...This gentleman has a "tanker" from each year of C-2 production?(63,64.65,66 and 67). Quite a collection! Please make a KZfaq video of the only such collection...Regardless of all the car's condition.As far as "all tankers are 4spds.", I've seen one that had a powerglide(could have been a "built"car)

1967 Chevrolet Corvette. The Corvette was introduced back in 1953 at a car show back in New York, receiving positive reception along with a price tag of $3,500 ($34,000 in today's dollars). However, when the car was released in 1954, it was actually met with mixed reception. The most powerful engine in the 1953 Corvette when it released was the 5.4 Litre (327 Cubic Inch) Chevrolet Small-Block V8 along with the 4.3 Litre (265 Cubic Inch) Small-Block V8 and 4.6 Litre (283 Cubic Inch) Small-Block V8. For 1956-1957, the grille was changed to have a spiky pattern and added a 4-speed manual. For 1958-1962, Chevrolet would redesign the front end to have Quad-Headlights, bigger engines, redesigned interiors/paint jobs, and a lot more. The second-generation Corvette from 1962-1967 introduced a drastically new design, such as a coke-bottle style, a sloped front end, circular turn signals with a redesigned front bumper, side vents, split windows (Only on Sting-Ray models), hide-away headlights, quad taillights at the back, sloped rear windows, and even more engine options. This generation of the Chevrolet Corvette (Corvette C2) would introduce the "Stingray" trim, which featured upgraded suspension, brakes, a new interior, and extremely powerful engines. In fact, this Corvette also introduced the Chevrolet Big Block engines, especially the Big-Block 427 SS, codenamed L61, L88, and more. They also costed around $3800 to $4200 dollars ($38,000 to $41,000 in today's dollars).

I know cars now have more power and are mechanically probably better in Every way. Style though not even close even the C8 corvette Challenger Mustang New Camaro. At least to me. Had to ask my Dad, How could a car be so expensive ? I was 8. He was Chevy with a '56 4 door which i loved and a '64 Malibu Wagon (PP 327, 3 speed). He didn't have an answer. @scottydog62 Жыл бұрын
Jeffro, They didn't offer a 454 then,if someone did install one after the value would go way way down,that Hi Po 327 was no joke,very quick,did it have the torque and grunt of the 427? No, But the lighter weight, smaller engine was much more fun to drive in that particular car. The thing was quick , This particular car has a uniqueness about it, it makes it rare and expensive, the video wasn't about the fastest corvette, I'm sure you know this, I am just re stating the fact.👍

@onemoremisfit Жыл бұрын
@@scottydog62 I don't know about the C2 but I have owned and driven 1973 C3s with both big block and small block engines and I prefer the small block because the big block ruins the handling of the car by making it much more front-heavy. For drag racing, then yes the big block is king, but if you want to do some cornering on the road then you want the small block. The cornering difference is not subtle either, it is like night and day, and the car is still plenty fast with a good stiff small block engine. I also own a 1968 Camaro and I've had big block and small block engines in that car too, with the same huge difference in cornering. I'm pretty sure Chevy put the high revving small block in the SCCA Camaros because that is road racing competition and they needed that car to handle well in the corners more than they needed brute power in the straightaways.
