TRACKLIST & INFO BELOW:
As promised, here is the full jam session recorded at a hotel room in Denver. The story goes that when Dylan and Robbie Robertson, his lead guitarist, arrived at their Denver hotel at 3AM, they decided to jam in Dylan’s room for an hour. Friend Robert Shelton taped the session on his portable reel-to-reel.
Although the sound quality is atrocious, the historical value of this recording is off the charts; it was recorded on March 12, 1966, just two days after Dylan finished recording Blonde On Blonde. I took these recordings from "The Cutting Edge: Collectors Edition" and cleaned them up as best I could with audio software.
Enjoy this gem while you can!

Hearing Dylan say, "its the best song I ever wrote" before Sad-Eyed gave me chills. Thanks for the amazing upload, as usual.

Absolutely love the Van Gogh song, never heard it (or of it) before. I can only fantasize about how great it would be if I could hear the words. (Please don't misunderstand - I'm not complaining about the upload!) I'm feeling too much emotion right now to hear the rest of the tape, will listen later. Can't wait!

I was 18 at the time and heard Sad Eyed Lardy the first time he played it in concert if my math is correct. Does anyone know if that show was recorded? It would be amazing for me to hear it of course...

Swingin I think it sounds just fine, especially the first part. Amazing recording for sure! More fly on the wall treasure of song development. I'm grateful Bob had Robbie, he needed him to bounce stuff off of musically. I hate folks dismissing his contribution out of hand. Bob was still getting acquainted with the electric guitar. Good god I don't think Bob slept any during the first half of '66.

I certainly agree. Robbie was a great friend and colleague of Dylan. He supported him musically, and he also saved him from drowning in a bathtub one time at the end of his 1966 tour! Not to mention, he was the one who introduced Bob to the tailor who made his iconic checkered skinny suit: www.theguardian.com/books/2016/dec/08/testimony-robbie-robertson-review-bob-dylan-band

Ahhhh the 60's. I just loved all of them in their little mod suits. It's a kick seeing how the clean shaven Dylan & Hawks boys with their proper jackets and slim ties juxtaposes with the image that The Band evolved into during the 70's with beards and old clothes. They were so young.

similar to some of the early Basement Tapes stuff, nice. Around 18:00 to 19:00 he basically invents Bird on the Wire and Let It Be, or are these just really basic songs.

Hey mate, hopefully you can help with this- Apparently on one of the Rolling Thunder Revue shows, an audience member asked Bob why he’s wearing a mask, and Bob replied something like ‘It’s in the words man’. Do you know which show this happened?
