I have never seen the LAPD using minivans and durangos, dodge rams, and five hundreds as unmarked vehicles.

Carolina Kichiro Yeah, since I’ve never seen them before as well, my friend and I thinks that they could be civilian vehicles and/or government vehicles used for higher-ups; and now being used for unit transportation. It’s cool seeing those out there. I will return tomorrow and see if I can get any other interesting catches, so stay tuned for more. :)

@@jeremyapps I have a feeling they're turning to older vehicles the LAPD have, so they don't destroy the newer ones, and they're going deep unmarked to keep their stuff low

*I recently asked an LAPD officer why there were so many slick top LAPD crown vics dispatched during the riots and he told me it was because they are disposable, in any event where there is a riot / Protest they send the “oldest” units to the front lines first because they know they will be the first to be damaged its sad to know that a lot of old beautiful Vics got beaten up/ destroyed but I guess it’s better those then the new explorers / chargers from a financial standpoint*

I agree with you, It's really sad they need to be first in line to get destroyed, At least after all of that they still have those vics strong and going today. They do need the explorers, chargers, taurus' *etc* to stay in a financial standpoint so they don't end up being the first ones destroyed but they're the newest.

And in the 1980's they did the same with all the AMC Matadors in storage near Chinatown. IIRC LAPD picked up a number of those notorious 1979 Dodge St Regis clunkers with the smogged 318s for use as beaters as well.

98-02 crown vics are still pretty common. They're mostly used by people new to the job, or people that frequently patrol smaller, less dangerous, areas of the city.

That’s because over here in the Uk we are a lot less likely to be moving at quick speeds and the vans are better for our small streets. Like 2 vans is a street blocked whereas if they did the same over there it’d be like 3-4 vans for a street
