Today we’re going to have a look at SOME player owned, Star Citizen rare ships of the 'verse to date. The order of this list is debatable but this is my Top 7 that I feel stand out as the rarest. Some ships were time or event limited. Some were quantity limited. And some require amounts of money that prevent them from being attained by the community in general.
I’ll do my best to give you the details and background on how each of these came to be, and how they could be attained. If you think they should be ordered in a different way or have another ship you feel should be added, please let us know in the comments below.

@@doctorno3912 It is much more then just "Don't wanna spoil!" The NPC Idris has no interior. Servers aren't strong enough for multiple capital ships. And the ship ain't done.

My buddy who passed away at a yong-ish age last year has a Hornet FA2 MK2 that will never fly. He was connected to the navy and actually had real world Super Hornets flying around his carrier often. RIP

I really love the looks of the Executive 600i. That livery is awesome and I hope the interior is just as bespoke to this rare version.

Currently it’s the same. They are going to rework the 600 series, but don’t expect a design change from the reworked ones, I’m going to assume they are going to just change the colors…

I think the rarest thing I own is probably the MSR nightrunner livery ...which was free for anyone who did the web game but was at least limited by time.

With the Mustang Omega, LTI was only possible from one of two ways. The first was concierge giving some privileged players the option to upgrade their ships to LTI. Usually sacrificing LTI from another ship. This was very much frowned upon and was extremely rare. The second way was when the RSI website moved to a new ship upgrade system, and for a very short period of time, they accidentally allowed players to CCU to a Mustang Omega. Either way LTI Mustang Omega's are almost mythically rare.

The second method is actually a bit missleading from what actually happened. I know this as i currently own around 8 mustang omegas, with 6 having lti from this time period.

Another tidbit is that the Omega originally had a $60 melt value, but once word got out on that and the New Egg blunder of selling the Omega codes stand alone for $1 each was known and abused CIG nixed the melt value down to $0.

I had a Vandul Scythe to fly for a month as Imperator subscriber, when the new Pembroke suit was released. I really enjoyed it but it was not much different then the usual Glaive, except the retractable blade was working and I rammed a couple of Illegal monitors to test it out.

You forgot the Idris M! There were only 100 of those sold as opposed to 500 Scythe, and there are far less of them than Raven, Omegas, 600is, F8C etc etc.

Very true! Although it's available in 2 different packs vs the scythe in 1 if I recall. I wonder how many of each are out there? Still very rare either way!

@@sc_dack100 sold outside of 10k+ and now 15k+ packs. You can buy a concierge pack with a Scythe too (and there were 400 more of those sold as standalone ships than the Idris M), There are MANY THOUSANDS of Ravens and Omegas out there. I personally have had more than a dozen of each at one time. The codes were widely available for as low as $15-20 when they first started showing up. The Idris M is SIGNIFICANTLY more rare than every ship talked about in this list, with the one exception of the F7A that one person owns, and the 600i executive skin...which is just a skin and not a different ship.

I think besides the F7A MKII it's a toss up between the Idris-M and Starkitten strangely enough. We'll definitely have to do an Idris-M video once we can do a full tour in game SOONtm

The Idris M is a little more complicated. I do not know the current total limit if there is any at all. I guess a large part is coming from the concierge Packages as there is no limit. Apart from the original Run if 100 of which I got my own I remember that the M variant was sold once or twice in smaller badges before the K variant came out. There might also have been the occasional giveaway But now it gets complicated as with the addition of Kickstarter in 2012 there was no enforceable pledge limit. People that had over pledges by more than 1000 Dollars where all ellegible for an Idris even after the campaign ended and the 100 where reached In addition I have heard sources say that Customer Support did offer an Idris M to Wing Commander pledges in return for them forfeighting the Day with Chris of which far too many where sold.

Noobifier's Omega is based off a CCU CIG put up for sale for a brief tiume in error. Now when they sell stuff in error they recall it/refund it but back then they did not.

The Sabre Raven game package had 2 months insurance, not 1. Also, the Drake Dragonfly Star Kitten variant was said by Jared at a Bar Citizen to be the rarest ship/vehicle in Star Citizen just because of how they went about awarding it.

But what I really can't understand is why they honored that pledge, but haven't honored the earlier pledge to those of us who were around in 2012 who made the Veteran's Day donation. I mean, I'm sure it took a heck of a lot more resources to complete the work on the Mk II than it should have to complete the Mk I hull refactor/skin we were promised. 10 years later... Still waiting... 😡

I own a lot of ships and the Raven is the only one I don't have that I really want and can't get. Very interesting story about the Hornet, I did not know about the one given out or that the military variant had larger guns even.

I got the Omega, its got a paper hull and only 2 small guns but its fast and nimble and pretty precise and a lot of fun to fly even if it takes a while to knock things down in it

Interesting point of note, I checked grey market availability of the starkitten dragonfly and there is only one. An account for sale with nomad package and dragonfly bound to it for $2,500

Ya they're account bound. Selling accounts outright is actually against TOS so it would be really risky on the buyers part as they could lose it one day.

Wow lots of research behind this one. I'd forgotten the specific occasion CR mentioned we'd be able to earn the F8c. You also had the full story on the F7A mk II. I've seen it in game and it's easily the most coverted of sexy rare ships.

Even though I have (too) many ship I really love my Pisces. Originally that top spot belonged to my Avenger Titan but the Pisces is just an awesome little runabout imo. I also love my Mercury but I really hope that CIG will give it some better shielding as well as some escape pods for the crew. 🙂

I agree with the couple that would love the chance to own 1 of the Star Kitten dragonflies. I tried for a long time to achieve the 10 referral points & most of those that seemed interested, changed their minds before actually backing, mostly due to how the game was running at that time.

I’ve got a couple on the list. Omega, both F8C, and a Scythe. Another fairly rare ship is the Original Phoenix with LTI. They decided after the first run to not even include it in CCU and I think the emerald variant was the only other way to get it. The CCUs from that first wave became pretty expensive

I think it's in the same boat as the Vindicator etc, more limited than the vanilla but anyone who wanted one could buy one at the time. I actually own one though! We should probably do a round up of all the semi-limited skin variations out there!

Hornet F7a is the best looking ship in the game. More than any other ship, it has the ability to rival the most iconic fighters from other more well-known sci-fi universes for overall cool factor.

The F7MKII's also need to come out the the civilian variants. At least the upgraded hulls with the current hard points of the current F7Civilians. Just to much was "fixed" about the Hornet with the MKII hull that is wrong with the MKIs. :(

I was all for keeping my mk1 and hoping they would give us mk2 versions as well. Untill during the video that came out after the reveal in which Chris Smith strait up said that they had changed the thruster placements on the MK2 because the ones on the MK1 were not great and actually caused handling issues. Then you have the blatant clipping issues on the mk1, the fact it's landing gear are in the wings..... I actually made a thread about it on Spectrum. (Fricken KZfaq dictatorship automod deleted the post when it contained the link to it :( ) Can't find the origional thread I made, but thats a copy I made in reply to another topic on the mk2 vs mk1 thing.

Very knowledgeable content. Thanks a bunch matey. I do not advocate those situations of impossible to get, even for f8-c or 600i exec, omega, raven or f7a but it is what it is. Personally, I missed the raven which I bite my fingers to this day but I feel confident more than Warlock / Sentinel will come along. I really wished CIG would be more transparent with partnerships well in advance just so backers don't get cornered selling a kidney just to help production!

Mustang omega was also available through AMD's raptr software, it was like a gaming hub for AMD that would track your gaming activity and reward you with "raptr points" or something which you could spend on gamecodes, products or raffles. I won two of these game packages using the weekly raffles they held at the time. I unfortunately gave one away to a friend who doesn't play the game, and used the other to upgrade one step at a time to the merchantmen today. Unfortunately the melt value is still $0...

I love the Vanduul ships, at first I only liked the current models, but after some time spent staring at jpegs, I've grown to like the upcoming reworks even more. I own a Blade, all the CCU's to a Glaive, and really want a Scythe. I'm hoping CIG sells them again when they launch the vanduul ship reworks with SQ42. Hopefully in high enough quantities that it will be possible for me to buy one.

@@RedLir_Live And as much as many of us want a Scythe, If it stayed extremely rare, and created a necessary gameplay loop of capturing a Vanduul Scythe, then hacking/reworking one just so you could fly it, and then maybe being able to use it to sneak into vanduul territory. That would also be cool. I buy most of the ships I want to support the game, but I also want there to be a need for me to play the game to further earn ships in game.

CIG is unlikely to sell Scythes again (at least, not 'real' ones) - they initially came up with a Lore justification for selling the initial 2x batches, but CR said subsequently that he felt it was a mistake, as it was an action that didn't really with with the UEE ethos, and the fact they were insured presented a huge continuity hole (ie how do the insurers get replacements, given that the Vanduul don't trade with humanity/ the UEE) It's possible that - eventually - they may add an Esperia Scythe to the line up, but if they do they'd need to add something to help separate the copies from the original, imo

I’m new to CS and from what I understand is that being in Alpha and with periodic data wipes we all go back to zero with what we own…. Basically we don’t get to keep it until we earn it in the final release…. Is that correct?

Yes and no. Before you could buy ships in game, with in game currency, the only ships people had were the ones they pledged for with real world money when backing the project. Any of those ships or items are not wiped when server wipes are done. Only the items purchased in game with in game currency are wiped.

I have the Vanduul Scythe! For a while, I thought it ugly & boring. Until one day, a dude was stunned that I had it, and then it grew in my eyes. It was also bugged for the longest time, and I think their bug was fixed in 3.14!

Mmmm ok I guess I should be rather pleased to own 3 of them, PLUS the elusive F7A upgrade. That said I’m only a small amount away from getting the 600i added as well. I would guess by the end of the year.

@@RedLir_Live One thing Star Citizen is lacking is anything earnable in-game that could be considered "late-game" or worth spending large amounts of time to grind for / earn. F7a IMO is a great candidate for an in-game reward that is obtainable after significant play time / effort. I do hope CIG has plans for some meaningful rewards beyond aUEC & rep for the sake of unlocking content & missions.

What I dont know is if the F8 will get unlocked after the first SQ42 or the last one. Its a three part series iirc. BTW did the guy with the F7A ever say how he got it?

That's true, I don't recall if it was after episode 1 or the whole thing. Maybe there is a record of this somewhere? The individual won it during a live stream. I just don't recall what the event was... but it was Ben who offered it up at the time, I remember that much. Back in that time period it was VERY common for CIG to give out ships as giveaway prizes. It's an alpha and likely will be for a long time. Just check out free fly events now and again, but definitely don't pledge for anything more than a basic starter package if you do.

@@RedLir_Live To be frank, at $35K I do feel something special is warranted and I would love to see CIG honor such a massive contribution and support by making the Exec Edition unique. I do love the 600i and that ship remains a fav even to this day.

I never knew there were LTI AMD Omega's. I am pretty sure that the concierge LTI transfer system was already over when they came, so it must me a bug or a CCU upgrade mistake by CIG. I still have one and it's giftable. But the raven is not.

It is actually. It was an upgrade that I applied to a regular cat that had LTI. They were upgrades at first vs. standalone ships like they are now. Cheers!

There are quite a few "limited time" skin variant ships in the game and expect we'll keep seeing more. The Perseus has one, the 400i, the Nautilus, the Valkyrie Liberator and I'm sure a ton more I can't immediately recall!

@@RedLir_Live yup but most of those where purchase sale exclusive thus they can be sold on grey market...so I agree that they might not make the list... but the advocacy nightrunner skill was an online event and was account bound which I think is enough to make it stand out also crazy that many don't even know that it exists.

@@RedLir_Live you can loot it too. i have a helm and chest that looted jusdt before hitting marshall and getting the whole suit lol. got it from boxes. chest piece from security post kareah and helm from either shubin mining on daymar or deakins research on cellin... cant remember which, cause i also nabbed the yellow defiance helm from the other.

Ya, by the time the referral challenge came around, most people playing at the time had their friends in the game. I'm surprised they didn't do lifetime like some of the larger prizes.
