Same with Nuts and Bolts. It really is a great game but it's not what Rare needed to make at the time. I have a sneaking suspicion that Rare hasn't been completely honest in these videos, and left out of the development stories any time Microsofr made them do something, namely changing Banjo Threeie to a vehicle game.

@@BananaMana69 Nuts and Bolts isnt a bad game. It was just released at a very bad time and shouldnt have used the Banjo IP. As a game on it's own it's good.

Yeah a traditional Banjo Threeie, then this would have been fine...although Rare followed up Donkey Kong Country 3 with Blast Corps...that was their first Nintendo 64 project...yeah I'm not forgetting about Killer Instinct Gold but it's an arcade port not a game made specifically for the Nintendo 64.

+SpongicX It's always Microsoft's fault isn't it? Always fishing for it, why don't you kick some reviewers up the old bum that wend through great lengths to put it down because it wasn't "AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!" shooter number 25. Microsoft could have done a better job... sure. But let us not wash our hands in innocence to what gaming culture as a whole did to this game and Nuts and Bolts.

+DehnusNorder I think one of Rare's issues was that they would work on too many projects at once. Man power was split up projects had development issues (Kameo & PDZ), plus conflicting creative differences.

+MrReyno Tanks Yeah but that has nothing to do with why this game was treated as badly as it was. Heck in N&B they filled a Trashcan with it as a joke. Reviewers at the time found that soooooo funny. The thing is this game was fun and addictive to play, it was just stillborn due to reviewers and gaming culture just not wanting to accept such a game on the Xbox Platform and I'm happy that it gets another chance. The "It's kiddy!" call has weakened these days, but you see it return sometimes on Sites like n4g were these armchair quarterback developers bash Nintendo for their art choices. But all things considered: THey are rigth, GBTG holds up VERY well even to these day, just in HD resolution it already looks so sharp and sleek that the art style (also the choice Nintendo usually makes) is a great choice.

+SpongicX I liked this game but I cannot deny it isn't one of their best titles and it was released at a very bad time just being bought by Rare competing on a console where the Xbox sold Sports games and First Person Shooters, while trying to compete with Nintendo. At the same time, while its not a gem it does have a charm to it and I have beaten everything in the game and every challenge except, "Play it again, Son!" The game is fun and enjoyable, but starts to lose its appeal when it gets repetitious. If they had more time to work on this and add more content it could have been a masterpiece. It was pretty close but just not there.

I was rather fond of the rainbow particles, heheh. The occasional freeze wasn't all too great, though.

+Answ3red Pr4y3rz lol i remember the bathroom level in wich the timer of the grim reaper was shorter than the door timer. That was the most scary for me :)

All i remember is my older cousins handing me the controller and having me play the part with tons of skeletons in the room and a pool table (I would always use that as a weapon) but after i killed everything else the reaper came and for some reason scared the hell out of me lol.

+Leer.CCIII I think we were all scared "to death" by the grim reaper. But that bathroom bit was terrifying. The worst for me was Gwenyth, the freaky lady you jumpscares you at the window in the greenhouses and the potting room

Abe Samayoa both Perfect Dark, KIG, bit of Kameo(I blame Deep Blue for that) are my fav Rare Replay games. I would add GBTG buuuut that freaking Trophy Room gets to me...

Why just as a kid? Play it as a teenager/adult and try and get platinum on all the mini games, then play the secret mini game 21 and you can speed run the game as amber. It’s just as fun if not more

The gameplay required u to stratagise later on the game got difficult and its neither it pisses me off this game deserved so much more praise

@@RareLimited please make a sequel! Just revisited this game absolutely brilliant. Also give us Banjo 3 it’s been way too long. I know it’s a long shot but definitely miss that charm and humor. Very rare in new games(pun intended)

And while Grabbed By The Ghoulies wasn't all that successful surrounding its original launch (in fact, its underperformance is mocked several times in Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts), it still retains that Rare charm, and offered a unique, unconventional gameplay experience, which is what Rare is known for.
