We used to camp on the beach at Ponto early 70's and usually surf Grandview or beacons. Then ponto in the afternoons or go skate the hills with no homes.

@@martinmartin8871 or often on a very low tide starting to come in that little spot between Grandview and Ponto we called it tomato patch would go off and get pretty hollow little peaks and connecting bowls there. Yes there was nothing up on top of the cliffs right there where there are now condos and that hotel they just built.

Pinto was so good last year but this year it’s been kind of funky

Actually this spot is not forgiving it holds you down for a while and the vid doesn’t show all the close outs. Water is freezing and pretty sure the water quality is pretty bad, so there you go, you didn’t miss much.

@@domcars I've been surfing for 7 years very consistently, sometimes 7 days a week, and I never been able to surf anything close to this haha I am just starting to get better at doing sharp turns and playing around, but on easier waves. One mistake and the barrel will make you roll around, not fun to stay underwater rolling and maybe even hit your head on the board or something..

Probably better you did. Those days are over.

Go into OC: Huntington Power Plant; HB Pier; Golden West at most swells with no wind; North jetty at Sunset Beach on a NW swell; Seal Beach Pier South; almost everywhere in Newport (Balboa Island); Most of Huntington Power Plant to the pier; North AND South; Huntington cliffs; and go into LA county to Cabrillo or Abilone Cove; or White Point; or Lunada Bay; or go all the way into LA County. There are so many breaks which spit and barrel that you'd have to be daft not to find hollow sections on most swells without wind or with a face wind. Get out, before the sun comes up: you'll find gold. The early bird catches the worm. Also study the swell directions; shoaling and understand how deep and how close to shore. I didn't know most of this in my early 20s. I am now in my 50s. Experience is the proof. Carry on.
