Rare Train Crosses The Diamond! CSX & Madison Railroad, Seymour Indiana Trains Near Street Running!

Finally I caught a train on this rusty railroad branch. This is ex Baltimore And Ohio Railroad, now CSX. Louisville & Indiana crosses the diamond on its way from Indianapolis to Louisville. Madison Railroad is included in this video. I was in Seymour, Indiana just before a heavy rain storm. Luckily I caught a train coming on the railroad branch that comes from western Indiana and ties into the CSX mainline right in town to the east of the diamond. I am told there are only a few trains a week on the branch that I caught this train on. Does anyone know? Leave a comment. The line that it ties into gets several trains a day going from Louisville to Cincinnati. I felt pretty lucky since I have never seen a train on this track in all the times that I have been to Seymour. Next I went to North Vernon, Indiana to see the Madison Railroad. I beat the rain there but it started pouring right when I tried to film the locomotive that Madison Railroad got from NASA in Florida. I had to take pictures of it in the rain as you can see. I did some hocus pocus to the Madison Railroad video just to see if anyone is paying attention. Can you tell what prank I pulled with that video? Leave a comment below. Awesome video Jawtooth! I love watching that CSX local freight J780 go through the Big Tunnel at Tunnelton Indiana every now and then. They run west bound Tuesday and Thursday and east bound Wednesday and Friday to Mitchell Indiana to service industries there. Also I got a cab ride with Madison Railroad #3 the former NASA locomotive when they were doing there Santa train excursions in Madison Indiana 2 years ago.

Good catch, JT! My grandfather and father both worked for the B&O. My father saw the writing on the wall for the railroads and jumped ship to a government job in 1971, when freights still ended with a caboose. Most of my forebears worked for a railroad, the PRR or B&O. Me, I went into aviation.

The last time I was ever to ride a train was from Seymour to Cincinnati when I was a college student in 1967, B&O still ran passenger trains then

For 28 years I lived in a Southeastern Georgia town that is a train lover’s dream. Now I no longer live there and I miss hearing trains and church chimes. Your video gave me a dose of both. Thanks from Southeast Alabama.

Man, that was a friggin' awesome video! That Seymour diamond was neat; you don't see the old signals like that around much. And have shown that City of Madison line before? Plus a second diamond in North Vernon! Very cool!!!

Very nice. You are right in my heartland. My Grandfather was from Madison, my Grandmother from North Vernon. Been there several times. Rode on that line a long time ago from North Vernon through Seymour to St. Louis.

Oh wow, Jaw Tooth! What a great catch there in Seymour, In. It's always cool as a railfans to get a train but when you catch one on a rarely used line that's really rewarding. Great stuff here.

I live here.... the North-South line is Louisville & Indiana Railroad, East-West is the CSX. We have a lot of train traffic through here. L&I just spent a ton of money to upgrade all their trackworks so they can run longer trains faster.

I'm surprised they're still BCOL rail cars in service. Even back in the day, you could find BCOL cars outside of BC. I don't know why BCOL's were found away from home. BCOL=BC On Line, cars intended for local use. BCIT=BC Interchange Traffic, cars to be interchanged with other RRs.

Cool JT this was amazing, The ex B and O line thru st Louis line is out of service and CSX wont sale it or lease it to another RR company, i seen only one train on this line when the surrounding cities made CSX move all thier cars that was stored on their lines and sidings. Also this were John Cougar Melencamp is from awesome applesauce :-) thanks awesome catch

Mellencamp’s “Pink Houses” features the ex-B&O line through Seymour (freights only), as does “Cherry Bomb” (featuring a passenger train at the very end).

Another good job thumbs up as usual I found it interesting at the end of the video when you were showing the switch locomotive in the pouring rain you could see the exhaust covers open leading all that rain water into the exhaust manifold

Wow, never seen two RR meeting at a right angle before! I only knew what a grand-union was with trams in the Auckland city of old in NZ, long since been ripped up. The grand union was two parallel lines meeting in a four way roadway shared with cars with all tracks able to be interconnecting, hate to be the roading contractor trying to price any repairs in the future. Similarly in North Vernon, Indiana what a wonderful country you have, all rather laid back as we say. Thanks for the insight.😎👌👍

You mention the old B&O signal - I see it has a ladder on it - I assume it is remote controlled? Nice GP40 moving through town. Interesting maneuvers, but you are the man! You catch them! Well done - bad weather and all :)

I maintained those old B&O CPL Signals & tested the crossings monthly, quarterly & yearly on the old B&O Indiana Subdivision back in the mid-2000s before retiring & moving out to Arizona. And "YES!" the pole line is still a working pole line except for a short stretch just West of Seymour. I maintained from WE of Osgood to just E of Brownstown. And "NO!" I do not miss it one single bit!

For those of you who don't know, that is actually is a CSX-T SD40-3, it like a GP 38, but a more blocky hood.

It takes a lot of luck, patience and time. Sometimes I don't see a train. I went to Natural Tunnel Virginia and spent almost 3 days there and the only 2 trains that came were at night. Nothing I could film. Today I got a street runner train but it took 8 hours. I did see a couple other trains on another line though. Thanks for watching!

@@MrPeerum The small dog likes to chase the horse. We are trying to train her not to do that. All 4 dogs get along very well. My daughter just got a couple puppies for her kids.
