Guilty Til Proven Innocent is a hard ass, classic ass album. One of the best albums to come out of No Limit. Uzi stood out, New-9 (RIP) stood out, & so was Glock. Still listen to it til this day!

So P had gone to college in Houston & then to Richmond. C was in the military. Kev stayed in the hood and looked out for Silkk & Gangsta T. Always interesting hearing the back story

Silkk went to California early on. He started appearing on albums/videos in like 1992ish, but P went out there in like 1988. I guess after their brother Kevin passed away, Silkk went out to California with master P to work on building his record label. or maybe once he graduated from high school, he was allowed to move to cali with P. but i think Kevin passed away when P put out his first independent album in 1990. So yeah, he had to paint a producer's house to get studio time. K Lou tells the story in an interview...P was too broke to pay him for studio time/beats, so he painted K Lou's parents house to get 3 hours of studio time. So Kevin passed away as soon as P started to focus on rap. I'm sure he would have brought him to California but all he had was a record store and not a lot of money. P started making money and doing his thing in like 1994-1995 and that's what led to his major deal. im bout it original came out in 95. K Lou even produced the Ice Cream Man, so he helped P a lot over the years. He saw him go from being broke and unable to afford studio time/beats to building an empire from 1989-1996. P offered him to be the head Beats By The Pound but he turned it down because he didnt want to work with one label. But Master P's history is definitely interesting. Some hustling had to have occurred because a lot of the No Limit artists who were around in Cali in 1989-1994 said they were small-time hustling. I know P got some money from an accident or lawsuit or from a family member to start the record store. I don't think it was really that successful but I think it motivated him to rap because he was approached by Bay Area artists to sell their tapes in his shop. He saw how the independent rap game worked as far as giving a mom-and-pop record store hundreds of tapes and getting your money back after they sold 'em.

In all honesty, it wasn't like the Prime Suspects were sought after. Ijs. They were not hot as the UPPER ESCALON No Limit artists. Maybe they Slapped in New Orleans. But OUTSIDE of New Orleans and compared to the TOP No Limit artists, they weren't makin no noise. Ijs. So it wasn't like they generated alot of money. Ijs. So if u got a 100,000 dollar house and a brand new car PAID FOR/YOUR NAME, u got blessed. What u did with it is on u.

I think a lot people didnt understand that rappers didnt get paid much. They only make you look like you have money because that's the culture. Big cars, big jewelry, big houses, women, etc is the culture of rap and the image of it. But u cant really make money unless you make a bunch of money as an artist. U gotta be going platinum on every album you put out so that you can be a profit for a label and have some leverage. To get a house out the rap game...at $175k back in the 90s, that house is probably triple the value now. Plus a house is a good investment that you can get money out of in addition to living in. Rappers get their money from concerts. But if u sold enough records to pay back the money you owe to the label and put out a bunch of cds/tapes that went gold or platinum, u got more leverage because the label couldn't say "We made you, u only hot cuz of us"..U proved that u an artist who could be a good investment and once u fufill ur contract, u can go off and use ur past success as leverage to find a better deal/do your own thing.

I see these videos all the time but never comment, just listen. But I gotta say something here cause when he said” main I never listen to that shit no more” referring to that guilty to proven innocent album , even though I can’t believe that cause that shit a classic and I still listen to it, I do understand, I do know that feeling of witnessing, seeing and believing in something that you deem bigger than you and unbreakable and then seeing it fall apart. I use to be a rap fanatic! I knew everything about every artist, had that big ass cd book and all! Now I hardly ever listen to the shit anymore! One my heroes that I put up there 2nd to only 2 pac lyrically has new albums out now, I can’t even listen to the shit no more , it let me down. But you should know y’all did y’all thang for real main and not only is that prime suspects album a classic but that song “bust back “ got me through a really fucked up time in my life and I was about to hurt somebody that wasn’t even worth the bullets. That song and anytime I heard somebody like c murder say some shit like “a weak mind can’t fight, that’s what they want that’s what they want , so you better get yo mind right”, it snapped me back into focus and reminded me that it’s the system that’s fucked up more than anything else. Plus for y’all to have not just a song but a single called “liquidation of the ghetto” that many years before Katrina was prophetic! We didn’t even know how much we needed to hear that ! Y’all did y’all thang bruh, that album is a classic .
