Siepi’s speaking voice is super sexy and gorgeous. I want to resemble him in every aspect.

Siepi`s English sounds French. He was born in Milan in 1921, not 1923, where the people mostly speak Lombardian dialekt with palate R like the French speak. Palate R is spoken all over the Lombardia to Modena. I talked a lot with Siepi since 1974 in Genova

I agree. He sounds almost Spanish in his speaking voice...
@achmedmohamed47083 жыл бұрын
@@flanplan5903 No, FRENCH he sounds! A lot of people in the valley of the river Po speak so in North-Italy since the occupation of Napoleon.

According to the facts Siepi mentions, this interview occurred early in October 1967. Mr. Siepi was 44 years old at that time. Met Archives list Siepi as giving 10 performances between October and December of 1967: eight Nozze di Figaro; two Forza del Destino.

His speaking Voice is low and relaxed. It doesn't overly dark or forced like other basses speaking voices! His speaking Voice sounds a lot like Pinzas!!
@flanplan59033 жыл бұрын
Though it is somewhat lighter than Pinza’s. It sounds relatively normal compared to his singing voice.
@EyeShotFirst3 жыл бұрын
It's quite similar to Ferruccio Furlanetto's as well.
@jefolson698910 ай бұрын
I was surprised by Pinza in the movies. Higher than i expected, but he used a very wide range if you check the pitches of his speech. Seemed natural . In contrast to those bassos that want everyone to know. Jerome Hines could be that way I think. And amateurs of course. Look up any interview with Ghiaurov. Its beautiful! ( he prefered to speak Italian in interviews which adds to the beautiful.

Interesting to hear him speak. Not as "bassy" as I'd expect. Ghiaurov, for example speaks like he is singing- low & legato.

Siepi was much lower than Ghiaurov
@thomaswikman8093 Жыл бұрын
@@Hexmeyer Singing, Siepi's low voice greatly exceeded that of Ghiaurov. An amusing story: During a dresses rehearsal for Götterdämmerung at LO Chicago, I was backstage chatting with Bengt Rundgren (the Hagen). Ghiaurov & Freni came in, with Nicolai speaking in his lowest bass voice. Rundgren responded by speaking an octave lower!
@bradycall1889 Жыл бұрын
He sounds quite bassy to me.
@bradycall188911 ай бұрын
And though singing voice-wise they're about the same, Nicolai Giaurov has a higher-pitched speaking voice with less overtone richness than Siepi.
@jefolson698911 ай бұрын
@bradycall1889 not when i heard him speak! I was in the room when he was being interviewed( in Italian). The tables and floor shook, and he used a wide range when speaking. Very mellifluous. Almost like Paul Robedon or James Earl Jones. I think a singers speaking voice is fascinating. Some tenors talk high on purpose to stay warmed up (Domingo) and Tucker spoke like a baritone.

I think I can hear the cigarettes he used to smoke ... 😅 His voice is so extremely beautiful and noble and humble at the same time, but there's kind of a slimy mucuus-ridden layer covering it when he speaks in this record, I'd say.
