-------------------------------
In this VladTV exclusive, Ras Kass sat down with Vlad to touch on some topics. Ras Kass immediately cleared up a quote issued by Mistah Fab saying he was Kendrick Lamar before Kendrick Lamar. Ras went on to say that Royce Da 5’9” told him that he and Eminem bought ‘Soul On Ice’ and rapped like him for a year.
Ras Kass also spoke about his cousin Bleu Da Vinci of BMF trying to get Eminem signed at Priority, in the beginning, revealing that he knew Em before the deal. The rapper also broke down working with Dr. Dre before he started Aftermath.
Take a look at the clip above.

This is a fact. Just wish Dr Dre put a prime Ras Kass under his wing! So much missed potential. Rassy was a West Coast Nas as far as knowledge, wordplay, and lyrical content. Only thing, that held fam back was not persevering pass the Priority sooner. & the production didn’t match up too his talent. Still LEGENDARY in every sense of the word though 💯

Ras Kass is almost a legend. I say that to say arguably besides Ice Cube, Kurupt or Kendrick nobody in the long and storied history of West Coast rap which dates back to the early 80's with artists like Too Short and Ice-T nobody is fucking with him lyrically. I only put Cube on his level because of Cube's bars on songs like Natural Born Killer, or Kurupt's bars on New York, New York or K.Dot's bars on Rigamortis. But NOBODY on the West Coast took rap more seriously from a craft perspective than Rass Kass. In his prime he was on the same level as Nas, Big Pun, Raekwon, Canibus, Eminem, Jeru, Redman or whomever you wanna rank. But it's like after the 90's he just stopped grinding. He could've kept coming with mixtapes and did shows and kept his name out there but he only releases a few projects here and there. But this guy was a force. Ras Kass basically singlehandedly forever solidified West Coast lyricism in the late 90's. Then he just fell off a cliff. Major props to DJ Vlad for resurrecting this lost treasure. I went a revisited his catalog this past weekend and knowledge I feel like I gained a certain knowledge of self I lost back before ht digital awakening when everything was analog. Ras Kass needs to drop two more dope albums and we gotta give him legendary status. There's no way he and K.Dot don't record together. Kendrick is the voice of his generation but yes for us in our 30's or 40's Ras Kass was K.Dot back in 96.
