Any Rasam is a soup packed with health benefits. Kokum or Punarpuli rasam is specially good for healthy gut and it acts as a coolant to the body. This Punarpuli rasam is a Mangalore style delicacy.
This is best had with soft rice or with boiled rice. It is a tangy, healthy and very tasty rasam. Beauty of kokum rasam is in its simplicity. It is simple to prepare and simple to source.

Ingredients:
1. 500ml - 600ml Water
2. 20g Dry Kokum
3. 15g Jaggery
4. Salt to taste
5. 5 Sliced Green Chillies
- For Tempering
1. 2 tbsp Coconut oil
2. 1 tsp Cumin seeds
3. 3 dry red chillies
4. Curry Leaves
Method
1. Boil dry Kokum in 500ml water till it is soft or cooked.
2. Extract the juice, add salt, jaggery and green chillies. Keep it to boil.
3. Prepare the tempering.
4. Bring it to boil and enjoy your kokum rasam with soft rice.
ಬೇಕಾಗುವ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳು :
1. 500 ಮಿಲಿ - 600 ಮಿಲಿ ನೀರು
2. 20 ಗ್ರಾಂ ಡ್ರೈ ಕೊಕುಮ್
3. 15 ಗ್ರಾಂ ಬೆಲ್ಲ
4. ರುಚಿಗೆ ಉಪ್ಪು
5. 5 ಹೋಳು ಮಾಡಿದ ಹಸಿರು ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ
- ಒಗ್ಗರಣೆಗಾಗಿ
1. 2 ಟೀಸ್ಪೂನ್ ತೆಂಗಿನ ಎಣ್ಣೆ
2. 1 ಟೀಸ್ಪೂನ್ ಜೀರಿಗೆ
3. 3 ಒಣ ಕೆಂಪು ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿಗಳು
4. ಕರಿಬೇವಿನ ಎಲೆಗಳು
ತಯಾರಿಸುವ ವಿಧಾನ
1. ಒಣ ಕೊಕುಮ್ ಅನ್ನು 500 ಮಿಲಿ ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೃದು ಅಥವಾ ಬೇಯಿಸುವವರೆಗೆ ಕುದಿಸಿ.
2. ರಸವನ್ನು ಹೊರತೆಗೆದು, ಉಪ್ಪು, ಬೆಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ಹಸಿ ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿ. ಇದನ್ನು ಕುದಿಸಿ.
3. ಒಗ್ಗರಣೆ ತಯಾರಿಸಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿ
4. ಇದನ್ನು ಕುದಿಸಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮೃದುವಾದ ಅನ್ನದೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೊಕುಮ್ ಸಾರನ್ನು ಆನಂದಿಸಿ.
सामग्री :
1. 500 मिली - 600 मिली पानी
2. 20 ग्राम सूखी कोकम
3. 15 ग्राम गुड़
4. स्वाद के लिए नमक
5. 5 कटा हुआ हरी मिर्च
- तड़के के लिए
1. 2 टेबलस्पून नारियल का तेल
2. मैं जीरा डालती हूं
3. 3 सूखी लाल मिर्च
4. करी पत्ते
बनाने की विधि
1. सूखी कोकम को 500 मिलीलीटर पानी में उबालें जब तक यह नरम या पक न जाए।
2. रस निकालें, नमक, गुड़ और हरी मिर्च डालें। इसे उबालने के लिए रख दें।
3. तड़का तैयार करें।
4. इसे उबाल लें और नरम चावल के साथ अपने कोकम रसम का आनंद लें।

Super👍. Try adding coconut milk. It enhances the taste. We give garlic tadka.yummy. Also kokum is not vaate huli. Vaate huli is Garcinia Cambogia, which is a different plant. Kokum is Garcinia Indica.

How long to boil?mine doesn't turn soft even after15 20 min of boiling

It depends on the kokum that you are using. If the water has changed its colour and taste sour, then the job is done 👍🏻
