Tasty. Thanks for introducing me to Rashaan. "Color is an abstraction when you get beyond that you see the spirituality of the person." Beautiful truth. Right on.

His version of "Say a little prayer" is my favorite. There's some great clips of him on youtube, it's a trip to see him play all these instruments.

Brother could play that flute! First person I heard do circular breathing. First introduced to him on his album "Here comes the whistleman", his cut "Making Love After Hours".

Yes, Uncle Ted, Yes. Rashaan Roland Kirk ruled supreme. I'm a little surprised you didn't mention his ability to play 2 or 3 saxophones at the same time. He even created the hardware to hold them all together. But to be honest, I couldn't tell which was more fun, hearing Serenade or watching you two enjoy it. Uncle Ted, time to turn him on to some Weather Report or Charles Mingus. Keep that classic jazz burning!

He was not acrobat! HE WAS MUSICIAN AT ITS BEST with limitless possibilitys. Way before any other musician comprehend that music is ALL music you can use for your own development. Even The Beatles! More artist than Coltrane, Byrd or any other much better known musician.

If you haven't heard Rahsaan's Bright Moments record, it's a great live recording from Keystone Korner in San Francisco. He does a great cover of Fats Waller's "Jitterbug Waltz." The whole album is great.

My main men Mojo and Uncle Ted. I can hear clearly Kirk's influence on Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull's flute playing. The joy you and Ted's show for the duration of the song is infectious!

Had a Roland Kirk album in the early 80s. "Prepare Thyself to Deal With a Miracle " He plays non-stop without taking a breath, from beginning to end. Both sides. At times he would play two and three saxophones at the same time! One of the coolest experimental albums ever. You have good diverse taste in music. Try Johnny Winter studio version of "Highway 61" You'll love it..

That was hot jazz. Flute, bass, drum eclectic groovin out.... Ok, not surprised to hear Uncle Ted already knew Jethro Tull. How about lighting up some Jethro Tull Bouree with The Uncle Ted.

I have a RRK song from the Atlantic Jazz Legends vol. 1. It's called "The Inflated Tear". The liner notes indicate he wrote the song after an experience with LSD in San Francisco. Blind Masters on LSD is pretty impressive. Give it a review PLEASE.

Only my drummer pal of all my art & music friends knows of RRK. Jethro Tull had an early hit with a cover of this. Uncle Ted is on fire. The flute instrumental in Austin Powers is from RRK solo on Quincy Jones track. Mojo D, you did KCrim; check out Kirk's album SLIGHTLY LATIN, not what you'd think.: EBAUQS . React Zappa, Beefheart, John Zorn and Sun Ra, too

Your uncle probably knows his 'Here Comes the Whistleman' album. But, if he doesn't, that is a bad album - live audience, Jaki Byard on piano. Too good!
