Two legends of the Women's Singles, Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon and Spain's Carolina Marin, faced off in the 2017 YONEX All England Badminton Open Quarter Finals.
A topsy turvy clash, it took a comeback of monumental proportions for Intanon to evenutally emerge victorious.

Good and humble players like Intanon, Okuhara and Tai Tzu Ying captivated the world not only with their skills and spirits but also their generous and beautiful play, generous in defeats but humble in winnings. Marin could be even better if she'd learn from these players most importantly the attitude.

Marin is a good player. Her attitude on court may seem a bit arrogant but she's personally a very warm and humble as well. I can only hopenthat her attitude change will solidify her strength when shebreturn to the sport again soon. All the best to Marin. As for Intanon, she's always an enjoyment to watch. The fact that she hadn't win many major tournaments so far seem to be a bit unfair for players like her. She deserve to win an All England and Olympic titles many times over had it not for another good players like Tai Tzu Ying and Chen Yu Fei who stood in her way. I wish her the best for her entire career.

@@MarcyTrinidad ok so putting facts and drawing conclusion from statistics is bashing? i am admiting intanon is humble, graceful and good player but she failed to became successful (after 2013) ... winning no major things after 2013 world chamionship .. it is a fact she gives up at the end ....not sure if physically difficult for her or mentally..... lot was expected from youngest ever world champion but she simply failed to deliver .... you cant prove me wrong with statistics... marin is screamer not graceful but champion, fiesty and one of the most successful player of all time.... but you will no get it...as i said it needs clear thinking and some mind ... you better watch pogo or cartoon network that suits you and intelliegence level

the game took more than an hour...the screamer screams all the time. And when the umpire talks to you don’t turn your back while he’s still talking, show you know the simple thing called respect 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just look at Intanon everytime she receive new shuttles, she's graceful and almost prayer-like thank the referee. Thais are normally like that but deep inside it's respect; for the game, herself, the fans and the opponents. In my 40 years playing this game although I have never been among the best, I have always received applause, respect even admirations from fans including frombthe opponents, made lots of good friends from among players and competitors. I just enjoyed every game, learn from the best, challenge them with respect and in the end had alway been most sought after by friends and opponents to calm the situation on and off court. Winning is of course better but having friends and adding new ones from those younplayed against has always been more rewarding. This is the elements I have always emphasizes in every trainees that comes for advice and techniques. Right attitude will win the game but most certainl it will win friends and more friends.

Agree. Players that yell are normally bullies. Thenonly way to silence them is through cool heads, persistence and not giving them the credits for their bullying and disruptive attitude on court. Players like Intanon and Tai Tzu Ying are not only skilfull player, they usually charms their fans even their opponents by being humble and respectful. They have always been humble in their victories and generous in their defeats. Marin's attitude and temperament on court remind me of Sharapova on the tennis court. Without doubt she's a good player but could only imrpoblve to greater heights by being respectful, generous and humble.

Marin's screaming is so irritating! I especially hate it when I am watching another match on a different court and hear her wailing. You always know when she is on court and winning. Pretty quiet though when she is not. She screams facing her opponent too. She is not supposed to do that. Then, of course, she is rude to the referee. Ironic that in a European Union venue, the crowd wanted the Spaniard to lose as well. I've heard Rivas say "Oh, you don't know the rough life she had" to excuse her behavior. She is simply a bully. I always root for her opponent.

The continuous annoying screaming is definitely not an excuse as solely emotional expression unless she can provide medical proof that she is mentally incapable to control herself in this area. The screaming player was not play in a closed cabinet. She was playing the game in public and to the world. Her behaviour and attitude are required to be generally social acceptable. This is how an society and the world work. As a global citizen, it is not free to do any things that anyone want to no matter how talented or not talented that person is. If she insists, criticism is the lowest price that she should expects to receive. That’s a fair game.
