Ratchet & Clank 2 - Early Swamp Monster II

You can fight Swamp Monster II at your first trip to Oozla, but it requires some precise jumps. Step by step explaination :
Step 1 : 0:00 - Hold forward and adujst the camera until Ratchet starts climbing the slope
Step 2 : 0:27 - Keep holding forward and do two wall jumps, and an hyper strike to reach the upper platform
Step 3 : 0:34 - Jump on the platforms until you reach the middle one while being OoB
Step 4 : 0:43 - Do a double jump and try to grab the slope while remaining OoB
Step 5 : 1:15 - Move under the yellow platform and jump without holding any direction. Sometimes you can walk on the edge of the slope, as I do in the video. Then you can try to go higher on the slope in order to make the next jump easier
Step 6 : 1:42 - Try to jump onto the yellow platform. You can do it even if you cannot walk on the slope, by being quick and precise
Step 7 : 1:58 - Use double jumps to climb to the platform on the top
Step 8 : 2:31 - Jump and try to land on the edge of the slope to remain OoB
Step 9 : 2:47 - Do a double jump and an hyper strike to reach the boss
All your ammo shoud not be enough to kill it, so you will have to use your wrench :)
Done on PCSX2 1.4.0. Good luck to people you want to do this on console

Turns out, once you get one solid weapon - it goes pretty easy. I did a "simple" run recently, where I hadn't bought any unnecessary armory. So, almost no extra weapons, details aside I purchased lava-gun. Once it upgraded to Meteor Gun (no weapons - it all upgrades fast :)), I put a lock-on mod (20 unspent plat.bolts to that point) and tried this “challenge”, remembering that I'd get a Box Breaker. Man, it was fast! Remembering my last crusade, when it took ~30min with wrench after just a second planet, it was loooong. But it took just some of my 200 shots of meteor gun to kill this thing. (Don't recall, but it was less, fast & easy -- no tricks at all. No lots of weapons, no overkill stuff like ryno, no tricks like hyde'n'seek, decoy glove, etc. - just few jumps & point'n'shoot with *one* gun only. Maybe, during challenge mode s.m.II has way more health, but not on the first run def.; so, with a good or upgraded gun it still seems to be fairly easy to beat.) (but not on the first few planets, I guess - no joke game devs made this boss accessable via magnet boots) But if you try to beat with no any upgraded gun or some past 1/2 or 2/3 game weaponry, it might be someway trickier. :) (not all of them can give you enough advantage to easy win, some of them require quite going commando with this one) Also, during ng+ it should have way more health.. more tests needed, but unnecessary cause it's your play time. :)

Y'know, this Swamp Beast boss actually looks cooler untextured, cause it makes him look a lot scarier. (That's not to say he wasn't threatening before, but he looks more so like this.)

Just spent the past two hours fighting the boss with 200 rounds of the lancer and 10 of the mini-nuke.... and the starter wrench. 2000 swings later and I beat the bastard.... Time well spent

I've spent like half an hour to kill this swamp monster with my omniwrench 8000... (after maktar I was able to do half damage on this thing, so wrench half the way) Besides, it could be hours (time flies) before I got there :) Last jump thing wasn't needed, long jump towards the pipe was enough to triger the boss section. Hours and lots of quick saves. The "Impossible" skill-point should be awarded for this.

An another way to reach the boss early is to use the decoy glove from the first Ratchet and Clank. Go to the wall beside the normal way to reach the boss, and use the decoy glove to push you into the wall

You usually don't have decoy glove on your first trip there, except on NG+ But you're right nonetheless :)

If you grab the Decoy Glove from the Gadgetron Lady on Barlow and use it to clip into the door at the top of the magnetic wall it will save you having to do the jumps

Barlow is still early btw.. plus little bit more firepower so you don't have (probably) use the wrench. :) Also I wasn't able to push myself with decoys there. Some places I still can't clip with these.

When you said "Early", I thought you meant like an earlier iteration of the boss from a beta version of the game, not GETTING to it early.

make sure you have the decoy glove for this fight lol. Its a godsend. The decoy glove is always overlooked in this game. Wether or not you’re doing the glitch or even coming back here after getting the gravity boots, I would still use the decoy glove. He will stop chasing you and go straight for the decoys. This is the hardest boss fight in the game but the glove turns it into a joke.

Well, you have to use the wrench a lot, which is slow and kinda hard. But it's doable. You can see it as a challenge =P

Not sure what challenge mode is (it's been years since last time I played the game). Is it when you start it over but keep your weapons, and can upgrade them more? If so, yeah, this should be possible, but after climbing the magnetic stairs, you can just use the decoy glove to clip through the gate, skipping the hard stuff :)

Once I found the first setp (by accident), I think it took me around 2 hours to find a way to reach the boss. Then I did it again using savestates, it took me about 5 minutes. Without savestates, I wouldn't have the patience to try again from the start over and over. This trick is not easy =P
