Abney Park Cemetery was my favourite playground in the 1950s. It was locked up, neglected, overgrown and amazingly undisturbed in the middle of the hubbub of London; which meant it was full of flowers, birds, butterflies and animals. I loved it to the max and found nothing creepy or depressing about it as a child - quite the contrary - even though I had to scale a piked fence to get in. It was my very own ‘Secret Garden’ ; a book a still enjoy. Thanks for the memory.

Hey Joolz, we had a day off work today, and decided to explore Stoke Newington. We found your film, and decided to follow your route! Had a lovely day (it was nice and sunny too). We were particularly looking out for the terrapin; and found one sun-basking, and another swimming around. And then a lovely rest at the Clissold Park cafe, where there was a wedding happening. But we decided to give the open graveyards at St Marys a miss - too scary! Thanks for the great films

I enjoyed your film. Mally Powell was a talented singer, from Wales, but lived in Stoke Newington. He had a cracking sense of humour, fantastic voice, and was a well loved local character. Another Brilliant video, Joolz. About your comments on 'stink poles', where I lived as a boy in west London we new them as 'stench poles' which were a little taller than the average terraced house. The dare was for silly little boys to climb to the top of one and drop an empty milk bottle down the open top. Miraculously, to my knowledge, no one was ever hurt -- although one little girl got a thrashing from her parents for getting her underwear dirty when she successfully climbed one and dropped down her milk bottle.
