so as you can probably tell, this video was supposed to have gone up a while ago (it was also supposed to be much longer). but life got in the way and i lost the motivation to edit, so here we are lol. i also wanted to let you guys know that this is the last video i'll be posting before i rebrand my channel! not much will change; i'll just have a different channel name and a new theme (thank you to those who helped me pick the name out!). but until my next video, i hope you all enjoyed this video and thank you so much for watching it!! 🥰💖

i think a fun video idea could be is showing examples like these but then having the viewer guess if it's appreciation or appropriation before you reveal the answer and then explain why. idk i feel like it would be fun and educational at the same time. love the video btw!

Why you care? Also many other cultures have braids. Dutch, middle east, french and vikings also have braids.

I'm kinda sad how overshadowed the entire cultural appropriating thing is, ppl will meat-ride their faves forever rather than acknowledging what they did wrong and educating themselves and their faves.

yeah... it really irks me how some fans go out of their way to try and deny or cover up stuff like that. and then, in the rare times where it actually does get addressed by the companies or the idols themselves, other fans tend to speak over the people who were actually affected by their actions in the first place.

#1 i love to see a dive p1ece! it makes me so happy! im also glad you used piwon as a background for this video, because i know they addressed the topic of ca before! #2 this video was really well made! i appreciate that you looked at the ca from a stylistic standpoint as well (lisa's braids were definitely...a choice). this is the first video of yours ive seen, but im def subscribing!

side note: hyunsuk from treasure genuinely haunts my dreams- hes been called out like a million times now, online and in person, and still has this issue ??? like ??? so glad jongseob was eliminated at the end of ygtb, who knows what goes on in that group 😔🙏🙏

@@brennathecatlover4360 it seems youve misunderstood me, thats my bad. all im sayin is yg has horribly mismanaged treasure ☠️ im not trynna say i know anyone or baby anyone, im sayin that treasure has a lotta potential that was missed out on, and the constant ca issues only scare people away from getting into them. theyve got a great rapline, theyve got some great music, and overall they seem like great guys. jongseob is still friends with many of em, and i think its great that ygtb was a bonding experience. again, not trynna claim to know any of em or whatever, but what you post is what you want people to see, and some of the posts are...questionable 😭😭

#1 oml yesss it always makes me happy when i run into multis who stan the same groups as me!! 🥰🥰 and yes, using piwon as a background for this video was a calculated move lol. i also chose them because when they do dip into black culture (for mv aesthetics/styling or choreography), they always stay on the side of cultural appreciation rather than appropriation (which something i love seeing-especially when done correctly-in kpop). #2 thank you so much!! 🥰🥰 i spent a while thinking about how to hit all the important points while also not sounding like a textbook and boring everyone lol. when ca happens within the kpop industry, i like to joke that "if you're gonna do it, at least do it well/make it look good" because the way some of these stylists execute these hairstyles shows just how little they know about their origin and purpose. and, at the end of the day, the idols are altering their appearance to mold themselves into the concept for that song/performance, so you'd think the ca would look decent when it happens but.... unfortunately that's not always the case. and thank you very much!! i'm glad you enjoyed the video 🥰💞💞

1:28 I watched a debate regarding this. They talked about Kim K wearing that hairstyle is not appropriation just because a certain group of people claimed it as their own when white people from waaaaay back in time first started using it

Kim k specifically did this hairstyle and copied it from black people, this is called fulani braids from my country. The debate is always vikings did it a long time ago, but viking braids are always loose and are styled more like a mohawk. Her husband at the time was black and so are her kids thats why she did it.
