Really love the ol' hatchet kick. Best of both worlds with the hook and axe kick. It comes down at a funky angle that can catch folks off guard.

I feel like crescents are underrated. Hook kicks definitely are, someday I'll figure it out

I can see that. And I think they are easier for most people to execute as well.

The front kick is underrated and its usefulness is vastly above the sidekick. A properly trained and executed rear leg front kick has incredible power and can stop fights, while the front leg one has so much defensive and range-controlling utility (ask the Thais?!..). And then there's the famous Machida/Silva showstopper.

Very Underrated in my opinion as well. I was training for an MMA fight like 10 years ago and my sparring partner landed a couple good hits, I nailed him with a good front kick and dropped him. So if the timing is right it can be a fight ender too. I think Shane Fazen has one of the sneakiest front kicks/teeps that I've seen personally.

The only things I disagree w is the front kick and roundhouse. I think if you’re not a kicker and you only want to incorporate one kick, it can be basically immediately implemented to devastating effect. And I also think the roundhouse is overrated because everyone who does it but doesn’t he’s soar thinks of any one lands it’s an instant ko and that’s just an unrealistic expectation.
@martialartsunlimited01
@martialartsunlimited01 Жыл бұрын
So you like the front kick over the round (roundhouse) kick? I would agree as well. Yet I also know that it will come down to many variables, footing, ground, balance, footwear, clothing, flexibility, etc. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment.

@@martialartsunlimited01 I think one should learn both and implement as needed. But ya I think the front kick can be immediately implemented by almost any fighter and be very useful, whereas a round kick will take more practice to get any good at. Also I don’t think the front kick gives one the illusion that they’re going to ko people with it, whereas the round kick kinda does. Front; easy to learn, low skill ceiling. Round; hard to learn, way higher skill ceiling

I agree with most of these, but the ones I disagree with I EXTREMELY disagree with. Round kick is overrated not because of overuse by the untrained , but by overuse by everybody and his brother trained or otherwise. Reverse (spin) side kick just takes time to develop, but when developed well, it can be devastating. And no, mine does not suck 😂😂
@martialartsunlimited01

Yeah I thinks that was what I thought too, just everyone knows or thinks they know how to round kick.

I feel like the roundhousekick is overated because 1: it is much more difficult to learn technicaly correct than the frontkick and sidekick 2: It is the kick that UFC-fighters snap their shins throwing
@martialartsunlimited01
@martialartsunlimited01 Жыл бұрын
That's true, yet I wonder what the % is for those that snap. How many thrown vs how many break. It's probably like .03%.

That kick came from Karate. It's called the brazilian kick because many brazilian Kykokushin guys made it popular (Francisco Filho, Glaube Feitosa, Ademir da Costa).
