As a Dominican myself, the recipe came out pretty well, but just a tip, next time add a bit of milk to the plantains instead of water, it adds moisture and makes it slightly creamy. Water is fine, but it makes it a bit bland.

Pretty good. Here are some personalized tips: don't add water, add milk instead and if it's evaporated milk even better. You can add a bit of cheddar to the plantains, which will give it even more flavor and a nice gooey texture (I personally add a tablespoon of mayo and a teaspoon of yellow mustard, which are far from standard but I like the taste). Also, most people like the greenest plantains possible, but I prefer when they're in between green and yellow. The egg is usually soft yolk but fried both sides, which will give you the chance of wiping a bit of the grease off. The thing to remember is also that this dish was originally intended for day workers, which is why it's so heavy. To this day construction workers eat mangú with spaghetti for breakfast.

Eating nitrates and cured meats everyday isn’t heart healthy regardless of how active you are. Nothing wrong with some eggs, plantains and cheese. I don’t know if 4 or 5 slices of cheese is necessary tho.

A little backstory from my youth: in Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 starvation is high, so it’s important to fuel up big to work hard during the rest of the day. I never seen people have lunch unless it’s just water and a handful of fried chicken feet! Or a pickle with some salt on it. Dinners are very late at night.

I date a Dominican here in the us with older traditional old school Dominicans. And I can say this is true you can see the behavior translate and accommodate the lifestyle in the us but you see they’re roots. Also this what makes the Dominican girls so thick 🤤🤤💀💀

He nailed it, I’m Dominican and my mom makes this exact breakfast all the time, carries your stomach all the way until dinner. By the way, heres a tip for the frying the salami, make a cut to the center of the salami vertically, this helps cook the center better and makes it crispier. Also please, for the love of god, don’t add water to the mangu
