In question 1 why initial quantity of milk is not 4/5*x as milk and water are in ratio of 4:1 so milk will be 4/5*x

You can solve it by taking the initial qty. of milk as (4x/5) also. In that case you'll have to take the whole qty. as (x). And if you assume the whole qty. to be (5x), then the initial qty. of milk would be 4x.

8:20,Sir,if we consider the change in qty and ratio of water instead of that of milk. The total qty of both milk as well as water are different.

No. The water increased by 1unit(1-->2) in ratio and by 32L(minus8L and add40L) in the mixture i.e, 1 unit corresponds to 32L. so initial milk= 4*32=128L and initial water= 1*32= 32L

We removed 8L of water and then added 40L of water again. Result: 32L of water added. So 1 unit change = 32L

Since ratio is 4:1 where 1 unit equals 32. 1 unit of water is 32L and 4 units of milk give 128L

For water first we have taken 8L out and put 40L in. So, for 1 unit = -8+40= 32L

While using alligation method, we get ratio of (milk+water)soln to water as 3:1, water added is 40ltr so 1 unit represent 40ltr, therefore 3 units of (milk+water)soln represents 120ltr, but ans should be 160ltr instead of 120ltr, can anyone help with this?

40 litres of the mixture was replaced by 40 litres of water. Therefore 40L of water mixture was added to 120L of mixture. Hence the total becomes (120+40)L

You're answer is right, 120 Ltrs was original mixture is the answer. But since initially 40 ltrs of that mixture was remove, hence we have to add that back. No, because addition of each ratio is not same. 2+3=5, 3+1=4 and 1+2=3. Addition represents that what total is the ratio is calculated upon.

@@romanthchowan1578 Start by taking both solutions in terms of % of either water or Milk. I am taking % Milk. We know that Solution I is 40% Milk(because 2 out of 5 parts milk) and solution II is 60% milk. It is given that the solutions are mixed in ratio 1:4. Assume the resultant solution has x% milk. By Allegation Method (60-x) / (x-40) = 1 / 4. Solve this you will get x = 56%. This implies the resultant solution is 56 parts milk and 44 parts water. simplifying ratio => 56:44 = 14:11.

We took 60 Ltr as the LCM hence each vessel have 60 ltr mixture of Milk and water i.e A : B : C = 60 : 60 : 60 Now it'll become 1 : 1 : 1 I hope you understand Brother ((:

Take any one liquid, say milk. In the first mixture, it is 40 percent and in the second mixture it is 60 percent. Solve and you will get milk concentration as 56 percent. And hence the M:W ratio as 14:11. :))

Take any one concentration..for example Water Conc. Ratio . Water is 1 parts in initial and 100 percent pure water is mixed to get 2 parts in the mixture.. convert the parts into percentrage.. Therefore initial amount of water = 20 percent mixed with 100 percent will give you an weighted average of 40 percent...solve by alligation method and you will get the final ratio as 3:1 . Now 40 litres of water divided by 5 [ 3+2} will give you 8 . Now one part = 8 litres...Therefore . 40-8 = 32 litres.. SO one part of water = 32 litres and 4 parts of milk -= 128 litres. I hope this is right...If I'm wrong correct me

@@snehatsamuel30 1 part is not equal 8lt But, weight ratio= 3:1 1 unit =40 lt water (acc to concept what we added to the milk. ) To reach to initial level we have to subtract 8lt of water from this 40 lt.Back process It comes 32 lt. Now what was the initial ratio M:W 4:1 here this 1 unit =32lt. Question is solve I hope it is right....

Yeah correct. 93:92 will give total qty to be 185ltr but actually it has to be 180ltr only. So the ratio is 88:92 or in simpler form 22:23👍👍

We can tak 1 unit decrease in milk is due toh 32 mil removed from it. Right Similarly 1 unit increase in water is due to 40-8 ( additional water)

In 40L mix 32 was milk and diff in case of milk is 1 that's why he took it as 32. Because in new mixture we have additional 40L water so don't take unit with respect to water Edit- if 40L of milk was added instead of water then we would take 8. Hope that was helpful

We aren't getting the final quantity, if you notice, we are getting the ratio of milk is to water.

I can say the ans is 100% correct. Eg- let us take first container as 40 and 60 and second as 60 and 40....1unit in first container is 20(8+12) and 4 units of 2nd container is 80(48+32)... And total milk:water = 56:44 and when we divide by 4 we'll get 14:11
