I use the B-tech leads, plugs into the radio and other end into phone or tablet. Using a mag mount antenna on the roof of my jeep connected to the baoufeng I have sent vhf text 15klm back to my base. Only problem I found that commercial radio to amateur type radio wont work because of the audio bandwidth. Changing the bàofeng to narrow band makes no difference. Otherwise its fantastic . Thanks for the video.

It should, since its an digital audio file! Anyone could use this video for testing! But if anyone else is listening, they can decode the message too. So, its NOT really confidential.

Only down side I have seen (not sure if I’m doing something wrong) is that if the cell phone screen closes it will not wake up the phone to receive the text

Ive had it on my phones for a while now. Wish I had an HF rig but, I sold them to buy an updated radio. Not sure what I want yet. I want something portable and self contained. Like the Yaesu FT 818, or 817ND.

My quansheng with aprs cable doesn’t open the ptt but in my baofeng it works perfectly, why ? I put the box on 1, 2, 3… until 10 but doesn’t work

For no noise operation is an APRS cable necessary between the radio and phone or can you use a 2 pin to 3.5mm cable?
@electromech73353 ай бұрын
I cant get the microphone to turn off on the device and use the output from the radio. Then i could use the vox to receive and transmit. I dont want vox to transmit from stray noises in the room.

@hamradiouniversity , the problem is that when you are on the go with just one radio ... plug in the cable , now rattlegram works but you cant hear any voice traffic , nor transmit any voice traffic , because the mic and speaker on the radio are disabled by plugging in the cable , you may then say , for voice traffic you could unplug the plug in the radio ... but then rattlegram wont work anymore , so it ios one or the other, to make a long short we want both voice & rattlegram to work at the same time since because we never know when one of the two is coming in for us ... so allthough it works , in practice your solution is useless. A better solution must be found to have both working at the same time ... this can only be done by a small mod in the radio like for example adding your own connector or modifying the existing one that will not disable the mic & speaker ... in addition the cable (for rattlegram) or mod inside the radio should have it's own vox ...since we dont want the original vox to be enable allthe time and thus transmit voice near the radio ... so nice idea (on paper) those cables, but in practice this is the wrong/useless way to do it ... another way to do this is adding a small bluetooth (RX & TX) pcb inside to the radio if there's room for it ... and connect that directly to rx & tx audio (in the radio)_ at a point before the potmeter for steady levels that are not influenced by the setting of the volume-knob ... have not tried that yet.

You don't need a cable to make rattlegram work, therefore you will have normal vox transmission and rattlegram transmission.
