This is the first song I ever heard of Raubtier. Raubtier got me into Sabaton, Amon Amarth, and other similar bands years ago. I can point to this song and say 'and this is what started the change into who I am now'

Actually, "Achtung - Panzer!" is the name of a book by German general Heinz Guderian, which he wrote in 1937, advocating a massed use of a tanks and other motor vehicles in warfare, making a basis for what was later known as the Blitzkrieg tactics. The song apparently references that book.

The use of motorized units for fast attacks was originally invented by the Soviet field Marshall Tukachevskij. The Nazis just stole the ideas, but got it back when the Red Army finally took Berlin.

@@stefanthorpenberg887 Yes, yes, "Deep Operation". Germans didn't "stole" it, it was rather an independent parallel development. Soviet and German strategists thinked alike and maintained contacts before Hitler took power. And, Tukhachevsky didn't invented it either. It was Triandafillov's idea. BTW, he studied in Germany in the end of 1920s.

I translated the lyrics to English, it's very literal, mostly word for word (with some explanations at the end): Achtung Panzer - Watch out, tanks! (*1) Worrying clouds by the horizon A storm of steel breaks out Beasts of war eats the front (war front) The flames of hope are blown out The veins that pumps diesel The pores that sweats blood Trotyl and death in violent marriage (Trotyl - TNT) With tank tread carried rage (*2) Achtung Panzer The fist beats Achtung Panzer The thunder rolls (*3) Achtung Panzer The ground is (getting) burned Achtung Panzer The fist of panzer is felt A coal black beret adorns death (*4) Who thrones over the zone of war (thrones, sits on a throne - reigns) There war men meet their destinies (war men - men of war - soldiers) A mighty panzer battalion Achtung Panzer The fist beats ... Beasts spits explosions Be a giant, be enormous (*5) In dense, closed formations Rules the panzer deaths' storm Achtung Panzer The fist beats ... *1 Panzer = (hardened steel) Armour and refers to vehicles with heavily armour, tracks and guns, i.e tanks *2 larv-fot - larva foot - caterpillar tracks *3 Literally "the thunder goes" *4 The Swedish panzer forces wear a black beret *5 "rese" is an ancient, now uncommonly used word, but "reslig" is still used and means "tall", "rese" is also related to "res", as in "res på dig" - "stand up tall/straight!"

Achtung doesn't mean watch out, but "Attention" or "Danger". So the correct translation would be "Attention, Panzer!" or "Danger! Panzer!"

@@bjornSE They used "Achtung" in the radios during WW2 when they had news, I certainly believe they did not scream "Watch out! Watch Out!" when wanting someones attention. So I believe it is not an direct translation.

Against tanks that aren't very well equipped (such as those of the Russians, the T-72B3 for an example is a 1970's tank with a 2010's 5'inch display put inside it, and a slightly new autoloader. Otherwise mainly just the 1980's T-72B in it's entirety.). A single MBT can wipe an infantry platoon if it's a modern western one, with a crew that isn't complete freshies from the capital. If they make use of their thermal imaging and stay at longer ranges, engaging, pulling back, repositioning and repeating. Not to mention if the MBT has an APS, then it'll probably survive for a very long time.
