We only heard and read about it, and today we will visit Raja Ravan ki Sone ki Lanka in Sri Lanka. We will explore Ravana's Golden Palace in Sigiriya also known as Lion Rock in Sri Lanka.
There are many stories about this Sigiriya rock and during our travel to Sri Lanka, we got an opportunity to explore this place and experience the stories we have heard about this place. In Ramayana Ravan's Lanka is described to be in Sri Lanka and Sigiriya has a lot of similarities to that explanation. Still, Sri Lankans refer to this as the Lion Rock which was made for Kashyapa Kings. hi guys, first of all Bohoma Stutiyi (Thank you very much in Sinhala) for visiting Sri Lanka. Though Many of Sri Lankans put the whole Ramayana to be a mythology there are couple of areas which can be counted as part of Ramayana and the infamous Dandumonara (the first ever aeroplane to be built in the human history as per Ramayana | funfact - the peacock theme for SriLankan Airlines comes from this. Dandu Monara is wooden flying machine which is in shape of a peacock. Dandu = wooden peacock = Monara. SriLankan Airlines have stylized flying peafowl on their tailfins and the peacock feather motif on the Osariya (local name for the style of wearing the saree) of Female flight stewardesses). coming back to the story. there are couple of towns in Sri Lanka which the name literally suggest the meaning airport. Wariyapola. we have couple of towns named Wariyapola (Geographically flat areas where you can land an aircraft). Wa means air (hawa) riya means vechicle (yatri) pola = place (Sthan). so its basically Place where you land your air vehicle as well as another town named Monaragala. meaning would be "the rock where the peacock landed" these names for these towns has been always like this since the beginning of the recorded history of Sri Lanka.

There are several stories in the Mahavanshaya (a major Sri Lankan history book like the Ramayana), but King Kasyapa demanded the kingship from his father, King Dhatusena, and when he refused, King Kasyapa killed his father, King Dhatusena, at Kala Lake. (Kala Lake built by King Dhatusena) Comrade declared war and created Sigiriya to protect himself from it. You can see the rarest architecture in the world and you can't imagine if a king actually built this. You might think that Ravana Ji had the necessary knowledge. No, if you know, Kasyapa's father, King Dhatusena, was very skilled in architecture and well versed in irrigation technology. The lake he created, the Aukana Buddha statue also has a very rare technique. Therefore, it is not surprising that the kings of srilanka had a very good knowledge of irrigation technology and architecture. महावंश (रामायण की तरह एक प्रमुख श्रीलंकाई इतिहास पुस्तक) में कई कहानियाँ हैं, लेकिन राजा कश्यप ने अपने पिता, राजा धातुसेन से राजत्व की मांग की, और जब उन्होंने इनकार कर दिया, तो राजा कश्यप ने काला झील में अपने पिता, राजा धातुसेना की हत्या कर दी। (राजा धातुसेना द्वारा निर्मित काला झील) कॉमरेड ने युद्ध की घोषणा की और खुद को इससे बचाने के लिए सिगिरिया का निर्माण किया। आप दुनिया में सबसे दुर्लभ वास्तुकला देख सकते हैं और आप कल्पना भी नहीं कर सकते कि क्या वास्तव में किसी राजा ने इसे बनाया था। आप सोच सकते हैं कि रावण ji के पास आवश्यक ज्ञान था। नहीं, यदि आप जानते हैं, तो कश्यप के पिता, राजा धातुसेना, वास्तुकला में बहुत कुशल थे और सिंचाई तकनीक में पारंगत थे। उनके द्वारा बनाई गई झील, औकाना बुद्ध प्रतिमा में भी एक बहुत ही दुर्लभ तकनीक है। इसलिए, यह आश्चर्य की बात नहीं है कि श्रीलंका के राजाओं को सिंचाई तकनीक और वास्तुकला का बहुत अच्छा ज्ञान था।

Hi, I have been watching your Sri Lanka vlogs and they are really very informative. Waiting for the next one! I had one query, is the entry fees to Sigiriya rock is accepted in Sri Lanka rupees or only US dollars? (As you mentioned in the vlog you were charged 30 dollars so).

As far as I remember it was in usd but i guess they can also accept srilankan rupees. But why you want to give double currency conversion value? I think you should pay in usd
