@D Aishwariya Rai truly shined as an actress post Devdas which was released in 2002 because despite having Madhuri Dixit in the film she was the main female lead. And most importantly as the number suggests 90s starts from 1990....... Debuting in the later periods does not in my opinion make one a 90s 'ruling heroine' for example I wouldn't consider nor Rani Mukher nor Priety Zinta as 90s top heroines despite both of them having made the debut during that period. Aishwariya, Rani and Priety from the 2000s.

Yes, I agree to some degree that she is beautiful and I have only liked her role in Andaz Apna Apna and imo that's a one hit wonder for Raveena. I haven't seen any other movies, except Mohra, which did not appeal to me. She also seems confrontational and strongly opinionated, but trying hard to be measured in this interview.

Its because of life experiences. Even living a shielded experience she still has had a lot of depth and exposure. Now Industry people have an obscene amount of money and star kids don't respect film making the way these 2nd 3rd gen nepo kids did. I think Shahrukh's daughter is the only one really interested in movie making and unfortunately people judge her for her appearance too much.

Divya and raveena had problems during the shoot of kshatriya, i think. Because, raveena was favoured too much by JP dutta and divya was treated badly, since she was an outsider. Divya had lot of attitude and ego clashes with JP because of that and and also because of her bold behaviour and smoking in sets

Everyone forgets Manisha! She was a queen.. with remarkable roles and performances and what a beauty. Even Madhuri brought her name up as a competitor to her no 1 status .. in koffee with Karan episode. Karishma and kajol were given more prominence in the media because of nepotism

@@Besties591 Manisha was beautiful, talented - for sure - however she had very very poor box office results. She got many films opposite all Khans also but all flopped. So you can say she was unlucky in that way. Also if you had followed the film magazines of 90s, you would know she had very poor work ethics ( fights with directors, costars , unprofessional behaviour etc ). All other female stars of the 90s ( except Mamta n Manisha ) were knows for good professionalism. As for nepotism , yes Kajol surely had the advantage but Karisma didnt have that - when Karisma started , she was bullied and written off for her looks , fashion sense and all - it was her hard work and dedication that made her a top star. She didnt even have that many good films till 1996.

@@naseem1402 she was way more popular among masses and class audiences every actress those days considered Manisha there competitor. Even madhuri and Juhi acknowledged her as one. Her movies and roles were memorable. Those magazines were gossip and PR driven .. I don’t think directors like shekar kapur, maniratnam, Shankar, Sanjay leela bhansali would’ve cast her .. she was directors first choice for offbeat roles and performance oriented. These other girls like raveena and karishma were mostly famous for dance numbers she was repeatedly cast by likes for maniratnam ( what glorious roles they were ) and Shankar. So I think it was just a PR narrative. She didn’t have any godfather, she was a total outsider

@@Besties591 I am a HUGE Manisha fan! However, the fact is that at the Box Office, barring Bombay and Agnisakshi, Manisha could not deliver huge box office hits. Saudagar did not run because of her per se. 1942: A Love Story was a massive flop but that had got more to do with Vidhu Vinod Chopra who completely spoiled the film with his incompetent direction. She was and is a phenomenal actress with an angelic face. That is why directors with pedigree like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mani Ratnam, Partho Ghosh, Rajkumar Santoshi, and others, cast her. However, post-Agnisakshi, the hits dried up. Films like Maharaja, Yugpurush, Mann, etc., all lost money at the Box Office. Dil Se flopped in India. She had a very minor role and a supporting role in hits like Kachche Dhaage and Gupt respectively. Akele Hum Akele Tum was another wonderful performance and film that unfortunately bit the dust at the BO. So, she is a great actress who unfortunately delivered a lot of turkeys at the BO.

@@siddharthakumar6467 exactly! She never had a huge BO hit like DDLJ, raja Hindustani, DTPH or HAHK, she survived because of her great acting skills and delivered good performances. At the end of the day people remember great performances rather than hit or flop movie

she has been doing that always - while Karisma never spoke about her issues with others and focussed on her work, Raveena always brought her name in almost all the interviews. So no surprise that Karisma zoomed ahead and became the number one star in the late 90s ( along with Kajol ) while Raveene faded away and didnt have many great movies.

It shows still she has scars given by Karishma.....Karishma does not speak because she is the culprit so she will never speak about it that how she sidelined Raveena at that time...she had major movies with Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar so she achieved that position...Raveena had taken a sabbatical but she regained the position by doing movies with Govinda and art films ..she received National award...Karishma had never done art movies..
