I worked with Emily when she was in NYC. We played around the East Coast in trio. At the time she had a red sports car which barely fit my drums. She drove very fast and in total control, like her playing. I miss her very much.

I knew Emily when I was 17 -18 years old she was working with my st, dad who was Mark Copeland (NY) jazz pianist I was already heading into the world of heavy metal hard rock/ early 1980s.. She and I talked guiatr she showed me some cool playing techniques scales. She would ask if I wanted to hang out when she would come to rehearsal at my house with my st dad. My mom who was a a jazz vocalist, told me she died in May 1990 and I broke down crying.. She will always have a place in my spirit I had a crush on her honestly.. smoking player passionate and a real good human being.

Cool story man, yeah it's really sad that she died for such an unbelievable talent. such a smooth player, I can't think of anybody in the metal world that as smooth as her, not even Satch or Vai, even Kiko Loureiro. It's so much harder to be that relaxed and smooth on an Ovation than it is on an Ibanez prestige. lol. cheers.

From the moment I heard Emily for the first time a felt a kind of connection. Not only based on musical taste and style, but also because of her personality. I regret so much that I could never see her live or meet her in person. So, yes, I'm a little jealous of you ... .

I only stumbled on Emily a few weeks ago, Wow! So sad she left us so early, I am looking forward to jamming with her in the afterlife!! She has such melodic traits but different, amazing playing!!!

Boy I remember back in LA in the 80's when Emily came on the scene. She just hit the ground running. And this was when LA was crawling with the best of the best guitar players on the planet so it was hard to stand out but she did. And she slotted into the whole Joe Pass - Herb Ellis traditional hard swingin' old pros vibe. There were lots of young guns doing all kinds of fusion, jazz rock etc. but Emily seemed like someone who had been around for ever. I guess they call it having an "old soul". And in the tradition of the greats she swung hard! This was true "Straight Ahead" jazz as Chuck Niles used to call it. I MISS EMILY SO MUCH!!

Saw her once at a sparsely attended suburban hotel gig. She hung out with us between sets and when the show was over. Great player and friendly. Seemed kinda lonely though.

Emily's second tune "Majestic Dance" is stunning. It's like a fusion of Jazz and Folk! (A union I've not heard many people really do.. perhaps she pioneered it? [Does anyone know anyone else who has done something similar?] - I think she was an innovator! She was certainly a genius player!!) If I ever see heroin in the street, I'm gonna punch it square in the face - for taking Emily away.. Don't do drugs, kids. Please.

Not even confident it's a pedal, it looks huge. My first guess was a EHX 16 Second delay when I saw it. First hearing it I was guessing a DL6. Either one would achieve that sound.

@@bubsadoozy Frissel used a EHX 16 second delay when I saw him in the late 80s or early 90s at the Iron Horse in Northampton MA, & a small Marshall combo. Solo show as I recall.

Rarely in history has there been a musician (specifically a guitarist), of her caliber. Emily had the virtuosic technique and her feel and phrasing, were always so expressive, so right on. There are players that exude either one of those qualities, but to have a balance of both consistently, is extremely rare. Ms. Remler fused her physical presence into her spiritual energy, not bound to this Earth, but illuminated in the glorious vibrations of the universe since the beginning of time.

It's only dated jazz if you, the listener, are extremely desperate to be hip at all times. Real music of any kind is never dated.

If you don’t really know much about music it might sound dated to you. You’ll understand hopefully when you get older. Some people never learn though so keep your eyes open.

One should take into account the fact that there are very few new artists playing jazz; therefore, there is less progression within the genre. The stuff from the 60's and earlier is still probably the most popular to listen to for jazzers, so relative to that, this is modern or modern-sounding, at the least. I think it sounds like it could have been released yesterday and not in the 80s.

A good jazz player can easily transition to just about any other genre and succeed. Same is not true for most others. For example, good luck getting your average blues player to play melodically to a pop song.
