Raccoons control pests like rats, mice, hawks and goshawks and feral cats. They fulfill a necessary balance of the ecosystem.

@@A1Skeptic Chicken keepers and game wardens probably consider them pests. It depends on the context. Though, I don't believe any hawks are as highly invasive (if at all) as rats or feral cats.

If they just sat there and watched a raccoon eat their dog. They are wastes of skin.

I also find this to be very creepy. The Ravens made a new nest in an electric panel, 4 chicks. I wish my camera would reach the new nest.

Ravens are diurnal, they can't see in the dark any better than us, while racoons are nocturnal. They seen in the dark as well as cats.

Birds cant really see to well in the dark if not at all

A pair of Ravens are back this year. Bringing nesting material to a new nest near the old location. Maybe this year we can see some chicks.

I would be. Full sized ravens can take on raccoons. Plus raccoons know they can lose an eye to one as well.

The Ravens harassed the pair of Great horned owls for 2 weeks this year, the owls finally gave up and left. The owls are what I really wanted to observe.

This appeared to have happened at night which puts the raven at a disadvantage. Raccoons have great night vision while ravens do not, so it makes it harder for the raven to defend itself when it can’t really see the raccoon that well. It doesn’t help that the raven also got caught by surprise.

You are correct the nocturnal raccoon definitely has the advantage over a diurnal Raven.

@@simplesimp9664 no idea, but raccoons are still invasive in some parts of North America too. Contrary to popular belief raccoons aren’t native to every state in America and are also incredibly invasive in Europe and Japan
