As of April 2024,Genesis has a 13 month lease this month for the ELECTRIFIED models. Per Genesis offers website, Advanced trim of the gv70 Ev is 499/ month, 3999 down for 10k miles. 😮 I got 9500 cash back ("EV Lease Bonus") for the 13 months gv70 lease, now there is a 17500 cash back for the 36 month gv70 lease, cutting down another 100 LESS monthly compared to what I got. The Gv60 advanced is 469, gv60 Rwd is 379 (same 3999 down) but only max 11000 EV Lease Bonus from Genesis. As of early May 2024, Per Genesis offers website, Advanced trim of the gv70 Ev is still 499/ month, 3999 down for 10k miles. Only difference now is slightly higher 18000 cash back for the 36 month gv70 lease. .....OR ... .... Wait 1 year and you can get 10 % increase in battery capacity and EV range without any increase in weight in the gv60, gv70 or IONIQ5.

Good stuff as usual. My question is, in this particular lease scenario, what would the residual value be? Is that something that is disclosed on the website or can you calculate it on your own ahead of time?

Not sure if this helps, but my kWh rate at home during off peak hours is around $0.04. I consumed just over 616 kWh's for April and it cost me just over $28 USD to charge my R1S. This did not include a few free charging sessions at work and public locations. 95% of the charging was at home. I hope this helps.

Great video, my big question is, I own a full size ICE SUV and I pay 1200 every six months for insurance. What is the cost insurance for the Rivian if you get insurance through Rivian?
@jordanmoore5602Ай бұрын
I have a very good insurance record and they quoted me $1100 for 6 months on a standard battery pack with a few options added. $1,000 deductible and $250k/$500k/$250k coverage. Full coverage with $0 glass deductible. Leasing in the Midwest.

I just went through a R1T lease. You can expect your start up cost to be in the $3200-3500 range. Thats not including your down payment.

@@RaviWadan $5200 and change. $1000.00 deposit when ordering, $1000 down and $3200 start up cost. About $600 tax for $7500 credit ,$550registration fee $900 acquisition fee, 350 doc fee, first month payment. I'm in Michigan. You add your state sales tax to the monthly payment estimate on the web site and its pretty spot on. Hope that helps someone.

Ravi, do you always assume returning the vehicle (and not being over on mileage)? As someone that would definitely buy at the end of the lease, i feel like you're math isn't telling the entire story unless you also consider the residual value you have to buy out at the end. You mention this briefly, but don't address what that buy out actually looks like. If you don't plan to keep it, the lease is "okay". But if you plan to buy it, Rivian is far too proud of them when you look at the residual you'd have to pay at the end. For reference, i own an r1t that is 2 years old, and the estimated value on it for trade or sale is $46-52k (Rivian offered me 46). As of two weeks ago, leasing a new (unsold) 2023 R1T for 3 years, while it did have an attractive monthly lease, was going to have a residual of $52k at end of lease. So they are claiming that, at 4 years old, this leased vehicle is going to be worth just as much as my truck is currently (at half the age and less miles). That is a grow over estimate, and more than eliminates the 7500 credit (+6000 discount) I was going to get on the truck. So the only way the math would even begin to make sense is if I was returning the truck, but I drive considerably more miles than the lease would have allowed, so even then I would have ended up paying a penalty at the end. I really tried to make the numbers work out, but it just wasn't happening.

One point of contention, no Rivian is eligible for the full $7500 credit. Only some models even qualify for half that credit. Please correct if I'm (happily) wrong.

If you lease them, they all qualify for the full $7500. What you’re referring to is if you finance them. Hope that helps!

I wonder what the lease deal will look like once the refresh comes out and at the toward the end of the year. I’d be more than happy to grab a left over 2024 lease deal December 2024. Thoughts ?

With these kind of deals they have to be moving them fast. I mean they aren’t producing any more at the moment right? My Tesla lease is up in August, I already have my deposit down for an R1S and ideally, I get my hands on the refresh but I imagine those deals won’t be anywhere near as favorable. Selfishly hoping the refresh has minimal upgrades + more incentives on the 2024’s.

Why is buying outright not part of your calculation? No payments, no interest, and you own the car. At the end of a lease you have no equity and you have to give it back (unless you buy it out). If you finance it, then most ppl will end up rolling the loan into their next car and juts you going further in the hole. Some ppl may be able to deduct the payments on their taxes, but not everyone. And even for those that can, it doesn’t necessarily offset the costs.

Neither, inless you like being laughed at. Not kidding. I see more people laughing and shaking their heads when they see a rivian than any other response. I live in farm and ranch country, and we know our trucks out here... Rivian is almost as big a joke as the cybertruxk. And country folk don't lease trucks. We own them, we work them hard, we repair them. We don't give a hoot about 0-60 time because it's useless.
