Lisa, I love your style of teaching. It is as if you are talking to/with the person who is watching your tutorial. Most people 'instruct' as if they are teaching a whole group of people who are on the same learning level, but you seem to make it more personalized. You are instructing on a beginner's level, yet, at the same time it is not boring to those who know quite a bit already. You go into a great deal of detail, yet, in a way that you do not 'linger' to long on each thing/part. Great job! Today is the first day for me to watch you, and I plan to come back and start from your first video to each new one you up-load. BTW Love your design for this quilt ... keep up the good work.

Thank you for your video. I am totally new to doing applique, but I adore the look for quilts & other projects. Since budget is ALWAYS a concern, this makes my dreams attainable, given I invest time into perfecting my skills. I do not feel the pressure to get things absolutely perfect due to cost, so i'm ready to jump in and get started learning this craft. My husband will also be pleased to see my scraps stash finally go down, as I jazz up little thing's here and there! 😆 I am currently putting together a baby/toddler & matching doll quilt (very quick) for my little niece. It must be done within a day or two so they can take it with them back to China. So applique will give me a look that is not only super cute, but looks like I spent lots of time & money on it (but I didn't). I can't wait to get started!

I am so excited for you Rachael! Learning new techniques can be challenging, but it sounds like you have plenty of patience and a strong will to learn, you'll do fine, and YES....you can absolutely do applique on a budget....the freezer paper will save you so much money! Your doll quilt sounds adorable.....don't you just love the projects that are way easier then they appear when finished.....FANTASTIC!

Thank you so much for your detailed tutorial even teaching how to turn the zigzag. I’m a beginner. I’m making a wall hanging with the pieces I drew in various spots like a turtle, tree, house door, etc. Have you made a video of how to make your added pieces a little puffy and protect the edges from fraying? I only have a 50 year old Kenmore. 😅 it puffs along like the Little Engine that Could.

Thank you Lisa ..... I started the patch 3 years ago and I like the applied but I had a lot and I still have difficulties with the mirror side with the fuse. Your method is super simple for a beginner like and will allow me to make my own drawings I live in France and it is not so simple to make the patch because everything is in English explanations but you have done your video so well that even without understanding the explanations I feel reassured by your demonstration. thank you very much I subscribe to your channel and I will watch everything. Continue and once again thank you for having de-dramatized for me the applied and the postponement of the drawings Good luck and good luck for the future Fran

Here’s a thought, once you’re done and you wash that and you dry it is the middle of those petals going to lift it up and kind of Have a puckering bubbly look to them. Because with the fusible webbing that keeps the center of the large pieces stuck to the background fabric so it’s smooth. Without that does it cause the two pieces of fabric to be limp and not have a good shape. Could you stitch inside the pedal to maybe help hold it down to the background fabric?

On larger applique like this I like to go in and quilt in those areas. I like to do that even when using fusible products as well :) In the video where I offer the pattern for this quilt, you may be able to see how I quilted this one....it's so cute! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/erOno5d3r77QYas.html

Hi Lisa,how are you? I LOVE the way you teach, you should be in a classroom !!! I love the way you say there is no right or wrong ways to do, and say another way to do if you dont have the same kind of sewing machine.I never quilt, but I love it.My mom did a quilt about 50 years ago, and from all of 5 kids, I was the only one that wanted.I will try to post the picture on your facebook.I have a lot of fabrics because I sew doggie clothes.Now is the question, can you use different types of fabric in one quilt? like cotton and nylon and other types? or it have to be all the same kind of fabric? How do you do when it become so big to sew on the machine?? Thank you so much for sharing your way of doing this beautiful art, maybe I will try to do a baby one to begin.Lots of hugs...irene.

Hi Lisa, I love your channel because you opened up so many new possibilities for me as a new sewer. I've been wanting to do applique work for a long time after a friend gave me a tea towel with a simple but lovely applique at the bottom. I don't use it, but I only display it on my oven door handle because it's so cute. Is there a special type of Elmer's glue that you use? I tried to find it in the transcript but couldn't find it. I was also wondering if pinking sheers would be a good look for applique, especially if I miss the edges a little bit in some places while I learn to sew curves and straight lines. Thank you so very much for your excellent demonstration and inspiration. I live in Australia, so my roll of freezer paper cost me USD$18 as it's not available in our supermarkets. I guess it would have taken me a lifetime to use the roll, so I'll have to squirrel away a heap of my sewing things into a good hiding place and hope that I can find it all in my next reincarnation! I'll have had 70 birthdays next month, so I can't see me getting to use all my items in the time that's left to me mow! 😊 Thanks again for a terrific channel!🎉 🇦🇺

Lisa, I have a question, could you glue the pattern to the freezer paper than cut it out, also do you need to put the pattern upside down?

Love your ideas; thank you. When I last used freezer paper, I found that it would curl up. Can't remember if I had the iron on it too long or what. Reuse it made It curl up even more. Any ideas why this is happening?
@TheQuiltmakerHomestead
@TheQuiltmakerHomestead 4 ай бұрын
hmmm, that's the first time hearing that it curls up. I reckon it could be the brand of freezer paper, or the age of it?? Also, steam released from the iron?? To perhaps the heat was to high?
