Many people still don't see it. Edmonton does have the edge. Even though a head to head match up in the playoffs is a unique situation, the fact still remains that *Knoblauch's* *Oilers* performed better across several metrics. They achieved a higher points percentage, goal differential, and clearly dominate with special teams.

I agree, the big factors Dallas has advantages in are goaltending , 5v5 and GA/G. The Oilers gotta match Dallas in terms of 5v5 play and suppress shots BUT also gotta forecheck harder and get a ton of shots on net, preferably medium to high danger kind snd possibly draw calls against Dallas with their speed against the older vets on their squad. Easier said than done, but we just did that for mostly 2 games in a row against a dangerous and competitive Canucks team.
@theoilersadvocate3130
@theoilersadvocate3130 27 күн бұрын
@@jordacheamistad3748 I agree that Dallas has better goaltending, and a more balanced 5v5 (of course nearly every game will include some very consequential special teams battles), but they do not have a better GA/G. Again, I refer here to Knoblauch's Oilers. I do not count the results from the first 13 games of the regular season because they do not represent the capabilities of the current team. When the GA of the remaining 69 games are extrapolated to 82 games (*edit, sorry that was redundant), the projected GA/G is actually less than Dallas'. It's also interesting to note that Edmonton takes slightly more shots per game than Dallas, but allows the same number of shots against per game, even when considering the whole original 82. I can see they are already on track for another successful series. (*edit there is also an extrapolated goal differential of *+86* for the Oilers over the full 82)

@@theoilersadvocate3130 I didn't account for the first part of the season before American Thanksgiving, so that is my bad. I want very badly for the Oilers to win. Deep down I feel they are being underestimated by the mainstream media, which bodes well for us. Everyone is talking about about the depth of Dallas. Edmonton is a 2 superstar team according to most ppl. But you watch how we play. We are definitely not that. I also think ppl believe we had the easiest path to the conference final. Look at LA and Van. They were probably 2 of the best defensive teams all season with LA having one of the best PKs all year. We torched them all series. We torched Van until everyone got sick and also the PK somewhat adjusted. We are looking at Bouchard, Nuge and Holloway possibly becoming bigger contributors than ever before. And Henrique is gonna drop in soon. With our guys not being 100%against the Canucks and the Stars showing a lot of what they are capable of against Colorado, this could be a good setup for a poker match for games 1 and 2.

It makes me laugh when you hear Dallas sports media talk about oilers first thing I heard they have limited scoring up front compared to Dallas and I don't know what these guys were watching but Edmonton had scoring from everyone they have 6 players leading scoring race in playoffs two with 20 points plus Dallas there closest scoring has 14 points these guys are doing exactly what Vancouver did with the cocky talk and it backfires when you make statements like that oilers won last two games against Vancouver so Dallas better not take oilers litely or they will find a fast exit from playoffs any of 4 teams has the same chance to win cup period

McLeod is a finess player good for the regular season. Every year in the playoffs, he's a ghost. We've kept him because of his speed and he's on the PK. We can replace him on the PK. Holloway has shown he deserves a spot on the roster, he's been what McLeod should've been-fast, hits hard and shoots to score. It's time to move on from him.

As a die-hard Oilers fan, it pains me to say this, but if we want to clinch the Cup, tough decisions are necessary. Stuart Skinner has given his all, but the pressure of the playoffs is overwhelming. He has allowed too many soft goals, which can be costly in high-stakes games. A change in net might bring fresh energy and perspective to the team. For the sake of our championship hopes, it might be time to give someone else a chance.

You never mention your abysmal draft record in Detroit the lats 8 years. You also don't like to say that you, are a Goalie yet you cannot see a goalie , you had years to solve our goalie problem and you just cannot get it done. So what did you do? YOU signed a goalie to a HUGE $$ contract that NOONE in the NHL wanted... so now we are Cap hamstringed and the only upgrade you could give us was old worn out PERRY. The team plays way better without him 3 strides behind the fast play. TOOOO OLD. Oh and lets not forget the first move you made... you would hire a career grinder as the coach to put in charge of the 2 most offensive talents the hockey world has seen in decades. @@richardheckley8413in those 3 years, all of those players were already part of the team. The only thing he has done is over pay players like Campbell, who aren't even in the lineup rn. Nurse, who is a good player but doesn't deserve over 6 mill let alone 9 million. Every other player in the line up is from a previous GM. His only net positive move so far was Getting ehkolm. And him signing nurse and Campbell like that absolutely destroys the Oilers cap space that could be used to acquire better goal tending and making sure Leon or Connor don't leave.

@@richardheckley8413 they’ve made the conference finals twice in spite of Holland, not because of him don’t get it twisted. Ekholm was an excellent trade I’ll give credit where credit is due and Hyman was a good signing, everything else is just a whole lotta nothing. Kane fell into his lap, that’s more of a connor and leon job than anything, Nurse overpay was all him, Campbell debacle was all him. Considering that the other finalists were Floridas current GM bill zito and vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon, the Oilers really got the worst guy out of the bunch. His drafting has set this team back so much too. Broberg is looking like a bust in his D+5 year, Holloway came onto the scene less than a month ago, bourgault has less than half a PPG in the AHL. We are in year 8 of mcdavid and STILL don’t have a reliable starter. Not to mention he has been bailed out by Chiarelli picks. Skinner can play decent in the regular season, Bouchard has turned into a Norris D, Desharnais, McLeod are all Chiarelli picks. He’s done OK, but has failed considering what the team could have been
