I've owned just about every Toyota from the 80's and 90's, and the 80 series has a soft spot in my heart, I've had 2 of them (a 92 that I sold, and a 95 that I cut the rear off, flat bellied, it's lifted slightly on 37's, and I love the thing, it works so well for what it is, it's just so smooth and just lumbers over obstacles.

Hey thanks for the fun video, I like your attitude and how you tell hard truths 😊 You would love my backyard here in Prescott Arizona. I assume you have a doubler which is something I need but I have to use a divorced case because there's no adapter for TX15 tcase but I do have 513's and a 4 to 1 gear set, I could sure use a fresh set of fotys too😊👍🏼

The land cruiser definitely requires a manual trans to be a good mud and or rock slayer. My ex had the FJ60 with the 3.4L inline four diesel and even though there super heavy the truck could go just about anywhere you pointed it 4' of snow to 4' of mud she would crawl especially our friends rig he had dumped about 100k into it with Dana 60 in the front and Dana 70 in the rear it was a straight animal and you had a trail repair rig with how much you could haul inside.

I have an 06 Land Cruiser, which is making a clanking noise on the driver axle it’s either the aftermarket axle, they will have all the transfer case. I want to shift to drive and then reverse that clanking noise occurs before the vehicle starts moving. The hydraulic suspension went bad, so I put in heavy duty old man’s Nemo suspension. I believe the few inches of left is causing a clicking noise but I’m wondering if you think it’s good idea to rebuild the Land Cruiser and make it look easy and replace the wheels and wheel hubs? My vehicle stability control is not working by the way.

In my opinion land cruisers are actually some of the best rigs ever made they just require a certain setup for crawling. So I am a little confused when your speaking to the man with the 4runner and the comments about the land cruiser I am a little stuck on that one as they have some of the best engine options Toyota ever made next to the 22R but there big and heavy I understand but there's just no way you can't love them. There 4 and 6 cylinder diesel's are a power house with insane torque which can pull 44" super swampers through anything like I did 15 years ago up stave lake.
@dylanmcmillin2065 Жыл бұрын
Theres just not the same gear options for a land cruiser as there is for mini trucks. In america there was only the 4.0 or 4.5 for the 80 series which are frankly underpowered, without the benefit of ultra deep gearing like the mini truck platforms. I loved my land cruiser, but it just wasnt a good fit for these types of trails.
@mirandoelmundo1319 ай бұрын
@@dylanmcmillin2065 so the 4.5 is underpowered, but the 22R isn't? Also, can't you get reduction gears for the 80 series tcase?

Great video! Austin from YOTAMASTERS helped me with my Tacoma S.A.Swap, I highly recommend dealing with YOTAMASTERS if you are building a Toyota, it's literally all they know, great people to deal with, shipped to my house in long Island NY fast, all of a sudden, I had a palette in my driveway! I tell people all the time, Call YOTAMASTERS! Thanks Austin and the YOTAMASTERS crew!

Knew a guy in college that wheeled an 84 Toyota pickup. Once he replaced all the toyota OEM equipment with Ford and GM parts it was pretty decent offroad. The 22r only had like 95hp. Going to a 4.3 tbi it was like a rocket ship. Anything can be made good offroad with enough money, even toyotas.
