One of the best Ray Mears episodes ever!

One of the most enchanting hour's of television ever, Ray's relaxed presenting style and Pinnocks humble brilliance is quite a mixture. Loved this whole series.

I love that episode. When I watch it there’s something, a part of me that just comes to life and wants the spirit to get out there and explore.

I have visited the Canoe Museum in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada If you are in the area, it might be worth your while to spend a couple of hours if you are at all interested in the history of the "canoe" with hundreds of examples on display.

The thunder bird has nothing to do with lightning. It stems from the rumble of an earthquake!

Couldn't really find any references for that. The Algonquians believe it controls thunder and lightning.

Would be fun to see someone trying this entirely without metal tools! How easy is it to split wood with a stone axe?
@CristiNeagu15 күн бұрын
Not easy, but easier than you think, I bet. Flint can be knapped down to very fine shards.

13:30 'nothing's waisted' while sitting on a huge pile of shavings seems ironic. I suppose they will be used for the fire later. I love this video so much. It's a pitty the quality is so poor. Knowledge and skills are true treasure and wealth and making something yourself is more satisfying than anything you can buy from a store or anyware. This makes you truely rich.
