His non-comedic songs are so underrated and timeless. Still relevant in 2021.

Ray Stevens, the producer, music arranger, songwriter, comedian, television host, solo artist, theatre owner and patriot is still going strong today in the entertainment industry. He is truly a national treasure! He should be nominated for the presidential medal of freedom for his contribution to America's happiness and entertainment over the last seven decades.

" Mr. Businessman " is a masterful piece. Mr. Ray Stevens, alternately soft spoken then brazenly bold in this performance, make this a truly memorable work .... BRAVO.

Ray was equally comfortable doing comedy songs,love songs-or social commentary songs like this-which is why he is a genius.

A great song I had totally forgotten. "You can wheel and deal the best of them and steal it from the rest of them. They know the score. Their ethics are a bore". Sounds just right for today, don't you think?

I saw him perform "Mr. Businessman" in concert in 2009 and he still performed it with such intensity and drive as he does here. He played piano during that performance, though. Here's he's free from sitting down, obviously.

I just love this. "Mr. Businessman" was one of my father's very favorite songs. It always brings a tear to my eye these days. He also loved "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window"... Does anyone else remember that one? :)

Love watching these "Ray Stevens' Show" episodes!!! I've seen them many times before here, and I was nine years old when they were originally aired. I remembered parts of them back then, but now I'm way old enough to enjoy them now, LOL! RAY is the BEST!!!!

I was 6 in 1970, but I somehow missed this show, or at least I don't remember it, so thank God for KZfaq. I'm sure I would have liked it. My first exposure to Ray Steven's was from The Stewak in "74, and it's been a good ride ever since.

The vocal's closer to his album version than the single. I wonder if he'll ever disclose the bad deal that supposedly inspired this song. What if Bernie Madoff had heard it a lot sooner? Everyday People got used in a car campaign awhile back. One question still comes up. How did the ladies sit down in those short dresses?

I once saw a book for teenagers written around the 50s. It advised girls when trying on skirts to sit down in them. That's still good advice. There are other differences now. Many women go bare legged. Pantyhose don't even look comfortable. Rumor has it thanks to fitted dresses, many women don't wear slips either.

America needs a business man Ray >Trump I love you and also this song
@lizgun45
@lizgun45 8 жыл бұрын
+ladytriaxle trucking Problem is this song is about businessmen not doing the right kind of business. It's a plea for them to change their priorities and Trump is not the kind he's singing about. It's about putting business before families and conducting business that is taking advantage of the regular working man.

As a young man clean shaven I can see a small Sandler resemblance. When he grew out his now signature beard I still wonder if this is the same Ray that gave us The Streak. He looks so different clean shaven that he became almost unrecognizable when he grew out his beard. Also I think he was more of a pop musician up until the mid 1970's when he turned more country/novelty.

Ray's songs were part of my school experience. As a kid I learned about reality from "Mr. Business Man" and was deeply touched by "Everything Is Beautiful" As Mr. Stevens has grown older, he has sadly become a right wing wacko. crooksandliars.com/david-neiwert/ray-stevens-tea-party-anthem-feature
