Ray Wylie Hubbard wrote this, he introduces this song saying "it's a folk singers job to comfort disturbed people and to disturb comfortable people." Ray Wylie Hubbard and Billy Joe Shaver are my favorite song writers. Yes it's Wylie like the coyote.

I just received his book for Christmas, and saw a show for my birthday... he did write this, as he does/did about 98% of all of his stuff... he is a brilliant man and writer. The title of the book is so cool... punctuation is crucial.... "A life.... well, lived." Lol. Love your channel and your approach. Thanks.

Pick any of his songs and you will find yourself dead in the middle of middle America's best modern Poet's. that was some song for sure- brilliant lyrics -many of which have double meanings I thought - like you - I think he wrote this too - the way he sings it seems to verify that - Ray W H seems to sing songs like this -loads of words and very well put - he must have a clever brain to do this kinda stuff dont you think - enjoyed your reaction and defo your rating was awesome - Hope you had a good Xmas Day and ate plenty turkey!! I am at my sons as I said and with my best friend Sylvia and we decided as there was only two of us we would by ribeye steak and all the trimmings so we wouldnt be eating turkey for days afterwards ha ha !! It was good though -out at the sales today and got new long black boots !!! What do you do at New Year -its all parties and whiskey over here but I dont drink now so will prob just go to bed - got gigs this weekend so lookin forward to that - sorry I am a bit behind with my replies these past few you did - we are out a lot down here - doin a lot of walking as weather phenomenal for this time of year here - anyway my friend I really enjoyed this song tonight-Happy New Year and have a dram for me Slainte bha!! Hey man I thought this song was great & I've never heard it! I loved it! This is exactly the kind that I like & relate to! I'm glad I heard it & it's going on my fb page. By the way, look me up if u want man, I go by "Jesse Duke". This makes me think of a suggestion. It's by Dry county, it's called "Waitin on Hank". Yes, it is a very much in your face song! I've given u fair warning! It is still appropriate for radio, but very much in your face!

Just found your reactions. I don't know if you still check these videos, but I must disagree with one part of your opening remarks. Folk music is all about telling stories and passing them down through generations. Not much separates the two genres. Simply said the best songs are telling stories. Like your video.
