Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) confronts Carter (Ronnie Gene Blevins) and Bobby (Chris Coy) in a bank, revealing that Frank (Scott Wilson) tipped off the police; when Carter shows dynamite, Raylan punches him for a disrespectful comment about Winona.

Deputy Raylan Givens has his own, Wild West-style methods of upholding justice, putting him at odds with the criminals he hunts and with his bosses in the U.S. Marshals Service. And an incident prompts his reassignment to the Kentucky district where he grew up. The character is based on one created by author Elmore Leonard in several books and short stories.

My favorite part of this scene is the menace that seems to be building when Raylan asks if he knows where he's from. A lesser scene would have involved him touting Harlan County as a place that raises badasses or doesn't let assholes disrespect them or whatever. Instead we get a simple working knowledge of industrial supplies and a wicked left hook. 11/10 would recommend

Seriously! I was about to cringe thinking they were going to make the robber get scared as if Harlan County had some reputation. But instead his reaction was genuine, like "So?" And then the payoff of him simply knowing the difference between flares and TNT because it's a coal mining area, lol.

Same. And did you see the way the robber was looking around, the way the wheels were turning? For someone that got into high stakes robberies he actually was pretty smart. The dumb one could do very easily have ended up dead if Raylan was anyone else … or feeling just a little bit less pissed off.

In the real world there would have been 40 cops, all shooting, 3 bystanders shot, 1 of the two robbers escaped in a high speed chase that would have caused $300k in damage to innocent peoples cars with 2 people critically injured. Both robbers sent to prison and released in 18 months.

The problem I've got with this show is that the US Marshall's Office/ duties don't involve chasing bank robbers, drug dealers, thieves, etc... They basically protect Federal Property, chase fugitives, and transport convicts... The day's of a Marshal Dillon are long gone!

The old guy *is* a fugitive. Raylan thought that he'd be at the bank robbery, so he went there to arrest him.
