Raylon has a tough-guy persona.
So it’s not surprising that he has been beaten, stabbed, and shot multiple times.
What is surprising is when I stop by the recovery home unannounced and find him folding laundry for someone else.
Or that he so sweetly hugs a 70-year-old volunteer and calls her grandma.
Or just how vulnerable and open he can be in a meeting.
Or that when he volunteers to guard the cars in our church parking lot, he watches another church’s Sunday service on his phone before attending our church’s second service.
He’s a remarkable guy. You can meet him in this 10-minute video.
But, I am writing today to ask that you pray for Raylon.
After a recent relapse, he is feeling defeated and hopeless that he can maintain sobriety outside the safety of a recovery home.
He also candidly admitted this: “I don’t know. I just don’t know if God will accept me. I’ve done a lot of bad things. I just don’t know.”
Raylon needs prayer for these specific things:
Hope
Courage to face his legal consequences
Faith that God loves him and will not reject him
