Mine electronics 1 lecturer, not a professor, was not contracted anymore by the uni. He could not provide lecture slides, he just opened the book on the projector. Did it make my life better getting his as a lecturer or terminated? I dont think. Just suck it in, and improve with the resources your are given.

Sir during solving for output impedances as we are setting the Vgs as 0 so the device should be off at the time so all the effects of channel length modulation cant be there as it is in triode region so the r0 should always be= infinity isn't that true

Sir ,in this video you said that in diode connected load we have to connect drain anf gate voltage but here you have conncected source and gate voltage . Can you please explain this sir

Thank you for good series of lectures Dr. Razavi, But I had one question: when calculating output impedance with CS stage with diode connected load, the Vdd should also be technically grounded for calculation of output impedance before we directly take it as a resistor 1/gm2 // r02 right? If we ground the vdd then gm2.V1 would become=0. This is my understanding. Please correct me if I am wrong.
@amithpandit4043
@amithpandit4043 4 жыл бұрын
In the calculation, VDD is indeed made ac-ground. But V1 is not Zero. Because V1 is the voltage between Gate node and source node..... Gate-node is at 0, but Source node is at vout. The analysis of V1 = Vx still holds good.

The test voltage applied Vx applied at the output port, makes a path all the way upto V1. Due to this gm.V1, is not longer "independent" as it previosly was as the gm is based on V1, and V1 = Vx. Thus, for the diode-connected topology, the output port impedance becomes - (1/gm || ro), while the equivalent for current source topology stays, ro

doubt: @15:12 sir memtioned that the mos ckt can be equivalent to a current source (for bias calculations) and the same mos can be equivalent to resistor (ro) for small signal model. I'm little confused as to what does sir intend to convey when he said that MOS_ckt is equivalent Current source for bias calculations. feedback: I love sirs teaching and how ppl appreciate his work. but there is a little inconvenience: before posting doubts in the comments section of sirs videos I am looking for any doubt relevant to mine are already there or not.. (which is a good practice according to me to avoid repetetions) but it was little hard for me to find out the doubts and read them in the poop of all the comments (that aim in expressing gratitude) I wish there is a filter in youtube comments to segrigate the comments based on weather they are feedback or doubts or gratitude expressions.

Why is a NMOS preferred to be the current source of choice between an arbitrary node and ground and why is a PMOS the preferred choice for a current source between the battery and the arbitrary node?It appears to me that both can be used interchangeably.Please help

If you use an NMOS to source current from VDD to a load, then any voltage fluctuations your load causes would change VGS and unbias the transistor. If you use a PMOS, then your load is sinking current via the drain and fluctuations on the drain don't affect the VGS bias.

can anyone enlighten me on why do we not short v1 when calculating diode-connected device's impedance but we do short v1 when calculating current source's impedance?? Both are small-signal model.

I'm also wondering why it's v1 is not shorted...
@vandanapeddinti5064
@vandanapeddinti5064 28 күн бұрын
Here gate and source are not connected by battery for biasing, so it's not shorted As Vgs=Vds, Vgs-Vth always less than or equal to Vds and the device is in saturation
