Hi, you're right, editing the video's to keep them short and interesting is the reason why people come back to your channel. I watched several repair channels, but with a lot of them i don't see the end of the video's because they are too long . I think you're doing a great job!

I felt your pain on this one. I thought you had it. So much effort for a no fix. For anyone still wondering, this is why there is a repair attempt fee. Excellent video. I was laughing out loud over the "what's 2 among friends comment" 😂

You still arguing about repair fee.. Oh my god.. But atleast right here as I client I can see time spent (20 minute is alot) and then I can pay you 10 or 20 bucks for good time and trial, Or wait for a full fix then.

Just to note about the different digit on the Z340: the TL431 and the TL432 are the same thing with swapped pins and only 1 digit changes. There are countless examples of this and assuming the chip is the same because of a similar part number is very risky. Since this is a mosfet it shouldn’t be catastrophic, but it’s important to keep in mind

Awesome video man! Quick question, wouldn't thermal camera show you if there was a short by plugging in the power connector? Would it be reasonable to start with the thermal camera when a short is suspected and you plug in the power supply? Or would resistors impede the short from being obvious?

Thumbs up for Lenovo laptops reliability. I have 3 at home, 2 for personal use (9 and 6 years old) and still in good condition. The third one is my work laptop and, at 4 years old, and 12+ hours being powered on each day... stilt as good as new. (Ok, batteries of course have declined, but the oldest one still holds charge for 20-30 minuts)

Does this laptop have its own battery for the BIOS chip? If not, maybe the problem is the battery is too drained from the ISL being shorted. If you had another Razer laptop from the same guy, try the other battery in the machine, and see if that works. Anyways, great video as usual! It's a bummer that this didn't work out for you after spending so much time, but you always learn something new 😁

I got a suggestion even tho you probably already thought on it. Maybe could be useful to bring the "stream" switch station closer to you since I see you always have to stretch to reach it for us to see microscope input and so on, maybe if it is closer you do not have to move that much, but I don't know if you got enough space near you (maybe just under the desk with a simple support? idk) :)

So the possible cause is - The controller chip shorted internally and kept the high side MOSFET on passing high current and voltage down the choke, heating both the MOSFET and the choke. This would have fried the PCH.
