As someone who also enjoys the occasional foray into programming, the extra function keys in the Corsair keyboard are surprisingly useful for simple often used commands.

I love macro keys for Discord. Having the option to quickly mute everything, just your mic and/or video is so nice to have for those not on push to talk.

The Corisair K95 Platinum is much better value than the newer XT. I bought one on amazon for $140 and it's basically the same keyboard. The only difference with the XT is the new wrist rest and different keycaps.

@@oni4356 Thats 1.2 mm, its the actuation distance and is something completely different from ms which is how people measure the speed of the switches. The huntsman elites switches are a lot faster than MX Speed switches.

There's another huge point to mention when comparing the Huntsman to the K95. The angle of the keyboard, and the wrist wrests. The K95, and like many of the Corsair keyboards, although the plate is flat the base is built in slant to it. Meaning even if you lay the keyboard 'flat' on your desk. It'll still be slightly angled towards you. Same goes for the wrist rest. While the Hunstman is boxed shape with the the plate flat along the base (no slant). And same applies to their wrist rest. What this ends up doing is that the The bottom row keys are actually about half a CM lower on the K95. Not to mention that combined with the slanted wrist rest, your palms will be resting closer to the surface of your desk. It's more of something to consider for old geezers like me that have messed up nerves in our forearms. :D

thanks for this point of view, i was going to go corsair, but this changed my mind. I am an old gamer (34 yes that is old for a gamer) and i do a physical job so i need that comfort considering my tennis elbow flairs up every now and then.

I bought the RGB Platinum and i cant use the rgb feature or else my keyboard will have a stroke and freeze. i found a fix for it which are static colors and low brightnes plugged into a powered usb adapter. if anyone else has this problem id love to know!

I actually prefer the Razer Blackwidow Elite over the Huntsman elite because the wrist rest is a little better and although there is no back lighting, the BWE features the audio / usb outputs which I really like and use all the time. And I love the sounds, the green switches make.

Have any idea if I could get used to purple on razer? I switched from Razer to Corsair because razer stopped cherry MX blue. It’s a different feel and sound that messes with me. There are others that feel better but they are older keyboards. With click but heavier depression weight. Not seen in years.

I purchased Razers first mouse they released, idk 10-15 years ago, the salamander. It remarkably still works flawlessly, however the last peripherals I purchased didn't even last a year the Blackwidow specifically didn't last long at all. I ended up with 3 of them, within a years time, when the 3rd one went belly up, I decided no mas. Anyhow after watching this review I'm curious if anyone else may have had similar problems with theirs, and if perhaps their peripherals are of better quality these days.

unpopular opinion, I like k95 more gamery looks but i wish they upgrade their switch game.. I just changed K95 plats to huntsman elite , this mechanical opto switches really are crazy good.. I remember when my finger was so fatigued using the k95 plats with mxbrown( i tried the rapidfire one, but the Misstype galore was so bad so I chose the mxbrown) then using this razer switches is so light , but also have a just the right amount of tactile and bump, and the keys are very stable as hell. I can say razer has dusted corsair in keyboard game... razer have been giving us new lineup unlike corsair who keep refreshing their keyboards without any major upgrade.

how did you get to try the k95 with rapidfire switches, and then with the mx brown, without even buying the keyboard with rapidfire switches? One of my dilemmas is that I get a keyboard without really feeling all the available options, but just purely relying on reviews.. which in my eye is not enough.

@@lielisaac4162 There is one in the store as a gaming setup demo, I tried gaming on it for 1 game of dota (around 30 mins) I messed up my combo so many times coz of easily misspressed key. In the store where I got the keyb there is plenty of demo keyboard with all type of switches which the customer's can try.

Bappodash though it could be argued those keyboards are used a lot, so it could be a factor in your mistyping imo. Not saying it would have changed much though, as it in the general scheme of things still probably has less than a quarter of the switches lifetime.

I recently bought a k95 platinum XT as a replacement for my old Corsair vengeance k95 the one with the tramp stamp on it actually spilled soda on it in the process of cleaning it had to take it apart with the motherboard and everything disconnected with the power cables going to soak it in distilled water in 99% alcohol I'm going to see if it survives or not but I got the new Platinum XT as a replacement just in case so far loving it I switched over my old clear key caps for the lettering plugged it right in and it recognized my profile and everything set up is like light bright love it so far and the RGB bar on the top in my taste love it

My Razer Huntsman Elite has gone to crap and it’s only 8 months old. The sound dial broke after 2 weeks, I started getting input lag after about 6 months, and now I just experience Constant problems. Go with Corsair.

macro keys are cool on the cosair, but I'm so used to using ctrl+c or ctrl+v for example. I'm always accidentally pressing those g keys.

Its worth mentioning that the huntsman comes in a green switch configuration that is cheaper if anyone is looking but its just outside of their price point.

2:16 we don't like it for the looks, but for the functionality. My desktop has 0 icons, I have everything important bind to a macro key, I have a macro set for apps such as photo editing and another set for gaming. Once you get spoiled by that, you'd never buy one without macros (unless you need tenkeyless for mobility to tournaments etc.)

@@LoLo-vh2hn For macros Logitech G910, for typing/gaming Ducky Shine 7 (Ducky is "endgame" the only reason I'm using Logitech beside it is great and quick macro management). I also have a Leopold keyboard but it's in the office which I don't visit any more due to covid.

Nice XP with the Corsair in the gaming department that far (3 days)... but. The placement of macro keys on the left on the Corsair is VERY surprising at first. U'll find yourself hitting them instead of hitting ur traditional Maj key a lot... Second problem : the Maj key is very little compared to even a basic Keytronic layout. This key is like lost in the middle of nowhere. Not great for those writting a lot.

Do either of these keyboards allow any key to be remapped? I am left handed and tend to use P:L" instead of the WSAD but many games hard code "P" to pause. If I could remap P to some other key and move W over to the P key that would help me so much when gaming.

I don't know if the Corsair K95 allows it, but every Razer keyboard can remap every button with the Razer Synapse software.

I just got the SteelSeries Apex 7 RGB with Red Linear/Quiet switches and the Rival 3 RGB mouse. I had considered the same devices from both Razer and Corsair, but all-in-all, the SteelSeries Apex brand seems to take a lot of the top spots of mechanical keyboards comparison, and since the mouse works in conjunction with the keyboard, I decided to stay with SteelSeries for the mouse as well.

Yeah, the Apex Pro is a beast. However, I will say that I prefer the razer huntsman elite red linear switches. I use the razer deathadder v2 pro as its very fast. However, I would like to switch to the Razer Viper Ultimate for those faster speeds with a new design. But, although, still, very fast. So fast, that even when the slightest bit of me bumping my chair into my desk, the mouse detects it. Sometimes this can get very annoying though, when my computer is asleep, and it wakes up my computer, thus, causing myself have to turn it off again. Not a big deal, but worth noting. The Steelseries is a stellular keyboard, but the switches on the razer to me sound a bit better, with the linear switches. While the Razer has the fastest swtich, I do like that the Apex pro offers some customization with the accutation point. Response times are dramatically faster on the Razer though.

Between the standard PBT keycaps, the available macro keys costing 2 whole cm of size increase, and the wasted USB port just to light up a wrist rest, this seems like a slam dunk in favor of Corsair. Is there some bias on the reviewer's part?

There are a few small improvements to the Corsair keyboard that is not available on the Razer keyboard. These features are especially important to those who work/play in a low light or no light environment. (1) Note that the light from an LED shines through the UPPER portion of the keycap only. If your keys have legends on the lower part of the keycap (as is the case with the Razer), those legends will not be lit and therefore invisible in no light/low light environments. The Corsair has those normally lower keycap legends NEXT TO the upper keycap legends, which means they will be lit and visible in all lighting situations. (2) Note that the media keys on the Razer are NOT lit, while the media keys on the Corsair ARE lit. A small point, but one that might matter to some.

I have a K95 Platinum keyboard and a Basilisk V2. Personally, I believe Razer has much better mice after the flops I've had with Corsair Mices (not as good in quality and in-game performance.) While I believe Corsair keyboards are much superior in quality and usage over Razer keyboards. All in all, great brands both of them!

The big benefit of Corsair is iCue. Those useless backlight and windows lock buttons and be turned into even more macro keys. I use record and windows lock for profile switching (because some games won't switch iCue on.)

Well, i was a Razerboy in the past, but i have to say, this k95 took beer, coffee and other things, and after a little shower, still working. Aluminum is fine machined, RGB is a thing, meh, i prefer mostly slight blue, but since early 2000, i prefer MX switches, so...

My k95 took beer twice, but the second time took out the arrow keys and right side shift and control keys. So that's why i'm watching this, debating to get a new k95 or switch to the huntsman. FYI, I loved the k95, only considering the huntsman because my cousin praises it so highly.

If you MUST one of the two, K95 is a no brainer build-wise. But if you have that kind of money, I'd look somewhere in Ducky Shine department.

I am lucky enough to own both the Razer Huntsman Elite and the Corsair RGB Platinum XT. Both feel very nice, but I accidently hit keys on the Corsair. Unfortunately, the Corsair developed a switch problem after two months of gaming. Off to warranty repair. The Razer is new, and I think i like its clicky switches better; less accidental keystrokes. It's nice to have two key macros, to ensure against accidental keypresses, as with the Corsair's far left macro keys. Also, the Razer seems to stay where i put it better. I'm leaning strong toward the Razer. Both keyboards cost me $179 each.

I know I'm late but coming back since the analog was released feels like razor has been more or less going towards what the consumer wants over what they think is right Corsair from my experience has just been kind of going in the opposite direction considering I used to have a Corsair case 70 and one of their newer Corsair ones I ended up exchanging it for my analog razor Huntsman Elite I can definitely say without a doubt the razor just feels solider and the build quality feels present

If I remember correctly Razer used to have the gamer fonts on their keyboards and Corsair had usual fonts, now it's the other way around.

this is just my thoughts buttttt. i think that the Corsair K95 Platinum is much more worth it, mostly because the Corsair K95 Platinum is so much more comfortable to use, plus you get alot more out of your money. Again you shouldn't let this comment affect what you get, but i have tryed both the Razer Huntsman Elite and the Corsair K95 Platinum, and i would say that the Corsair K95 Platinum wins by a mile.

Been on Huntsman Elite from day one, and been times/days i think the "click" is little to much..BUT..in the end it´s one of the best keyboard. Beats my otehr Corsair and Logitech, IF you can handle/like the click sounds..:)

I am a die hard Corsair fan and I've found out most recently as this is an older video. The K95 supports a lot more games now and sometimes it's annoying because it will takeover profiles but most of the time the lighting is congruent with the game I play especially Sony games.

Ryuusei Boi They were the only switch type you could get with the board but compared to most switches u can get in custom builds like (zealios and tealios etc) ur probably right

OK, sure, if you have the money and are willing to spend $160 to almost $200 on a keyboard, either of these would be a good choice. BUT, I don't have that kind of money, and refuse to spend it on something like a keyboard. I spent $35 on my Havit RGB Mechanical Keyboard (KB389L), and it has great blue switches, very nice RGB FX, and a decent wrist rest. At roughly 1/5th the cost of these keyboards, it has plenty of features, is very good to type on, and is fantastic for playing games. I then added the Havit RGB Gaming Mouse with swappable side panels (MS760), for $32, and the two together are still almost 4x less than these keyboards alone. Not sure why people feel the need to spend so much, but for me, these two work great and are inexpensive without feeling cheap!

in my opinion i think the corsair platinum is just barely more quality than the huntsman elite but the difference is minimal so it really just comes down to preference

Anyone else bothered by how the Razer wrist rest isn't completely a good fit in the connector? It will wobble and then the lighting flickers

You can actually plug a device into the keyboard in case something isnt long enough to reach your pc, so one usb is for the keyboard and one is for another device.

@@yuviiiaa but as I said there are keyboards who can do the same using one cable. That's why drop alt is one of the best keyboards - type c is not only detachable but also let you to connect mouse to usb type c hub

dombrox the K95 is basically a K70 right? So I’m assuming they just used that “base” and then added new features, most likely they would have profited less if they updated the usb standard so they left it. Logic doesn’t make much sense though, cause i would think 2 USB cables costs more than one usb 3.0 so idfk honestly.

it depends of what you like, if you like a soft pillow like wrist rest you should get a razor wrist rest, but if you like to have a nice comfortable grip i would recommend a corsair

Just a btw, if you ever want to experiment.. try a 60% keyboard! Honestly after switching to one (Anne Pro 2) you save so much space and realize how much you can get out of a smaller board. Plus they are generally cheaper, have greater customizability, it saves desk space, and you have the ability to easily use all the keys that are technically not physically on the board.

Also, I use arrow keys a lot as a data scientist and found that using the alternate layers not too hard to adjust to. If you are really hell-bent on it 65% exists which keeps the arrow keys and keeps the smaller form factor (ex Durgod Hades 68)
