... the process of peeling open!
Good afternoon, friends and families! We hope you are doing well on this sweltering Saturday!
Quick FYI - Spike & Heidi are doing great! Spike is wearing the Cone with pride!
We are continuing to monitor the kittens' daily weights and will continue through their first week. They are growing and developing rapidly! We noticed this morning some progress with their eyes, which are expected to open between 6 and 7 days - we are at day 5 today. As they get bigger, we are going to outfit the cat shack with a few cat trees and other fun things for them to play with and around.
There are 10 kittens total, 5 boys and 5 girls. Mona has 4 orange and whites; 1 girl (purple collar) and 3 boys. Cutie Pie had 6, 1 boy and 4 girls. 3 of her girls are the calicos, and the 4th is the black and gray kitten with blue/gray collar. Her boy is orange and white with a yellow collar.
We plan to keep about half the litter and will home the remaining kittens. Any remaining kittens will be welcomed into the fold at RBC. We are only asking for a very nominal donation ($250) to cover the cost of food, vaccinations, microchips, etc. To inquire about one of our kittens, please send us a message at 815-883-1134 with a short introduction and what you are interested in. They'll be going home up to date on vaccines, vet checked, and microchipped. We are raising these kittens like we raise our ESA puppies - with lots of love and interaction, teaching them how to trust people and build healthy relationships. We prioritize our puppies' and kittens' emotional-social development to ensure healthy socialization and optimize the traits that make Emotional Support Animals so effective.
Kitten Names so far:
Blue collar - Marshmallow
Purple collar - Grape
Dark calico no collar - Karma
On the dog side of the farm, Robin and Macchiato are continuing their dates. Robin should be very close to being ready. We put them outside together each day after breakfast. Macchiato is strutting his stuff trying to prove to her that he is the finest specimen for her next litter. They play and frolic around, flirting with each other. She is accepting of his advances, and things are moving along as we would expect. She should be ready to mate very soon. They will then spend a few days mating, and then we will be able to project a due date.

Welcome to the Red Barn Cavaliers family home! We specialize in raising Emotional Support Animals. This livestream is with our cats who recently had their (only) litters of kittens on 6/24/24. These kittens are newborns so we are keeping an eye on them and monitoring their daily weights. They were all born very healthy and at good weights. Both mamas are treating the two litters like one giant family! They are doing a great job taking care of them.
We primarily raise Cavalier King Charles Spaniels with an emphasis on their emotional-social development. We raise our puppies for the distinct purpose of becoming ESAs. This breed's temperament is ripe for therapeutic bonding, and their ability to tune into their handler's emotional needs can't compare to any other breed. We are anticipating our next litter to be from Robin and Macchiato toward the end of August/early September. We livestream the deliveries of our litters, which you'll find in playlists.
